and has been running fevers off and on all day for the past two days! The higest its gotten was 103.5 and the next morning we went in to see a ped! She said its nothing to worry about and gotta let it run its corse , but its gotten to the point that he wakes up about 1-2 am and wants to be held til he falls into a deep sleep!! Then he'll wake up again closer to 3 or 4 and the same thing after about 4am I can get him to sleep til 7-830 with just minimal tossing and turning!! ( we cosleep) so its really beginning to be hard for me, I am so sleep deprived! The first nigh I held him all night rocking/bouncing him gently all night til like 5am where we then slept til 8am. I know I am suppose to let it runs its corse and as much as I love my DS being so LOVEY (due to the fever....) is there really anything else I can do?? When will it stop???!! LOL I hate seeing him so miserable and not getting the sleep he needs!!!

What can I do next?

Thanks for your responses everyone! Vincent is feeling like himself again! And actually stayed sleeping last night! Thank goodness, i needed the rest as well as he did!!! He developed a little heat rash from his fever and hopefully that'll go away in the next day or so! We have our 6month wbv next wednesday so i'll figure out all the stats then!! Thank you again!

Motrin is about the only thing you can do. Sorry, mama. Waiting out an illness is one of the hardest parts of being a parent. It will be over soon...

I too, give props to the ped, lots of time you just need to let it runs its course. If he has red cheeks, my guess is that it is the roseola virus. It's in the family of the pox virus, no he can't get chx pox or small pox from this. It's just a high fever, and then when the fever is done he may get a rash of 'pox' on his face for a day or so, but it's nothing to worry about.

I know how scary and frustrating it can be - when my son was 5 mths he got it and ran a fever up to 104. It was on and off for a few days, but it really didn't seem to bother him. If your little guy is being bothered by it, go for the Motrin, cool baths, loose, light clothing and all the mommy loves you can dish out. You'll both get through it!

Viruses usually take 3-5 days to run their course. Seems like my boys always turned the corner towards the end of the 5th day when I was about ready to bring them back to the doctor. It's normal for them to be clingy and waking up when they are sick. Keep him comfortable with Tylenol and ibuprofen and enjoy your cuddle time. Sleep deprivation is one of the hardest parts of parenting, but it's also one of the most common parts of parenting. Can the two of you nap together? Hope he feels better soon.

You may not want to hear this, but I give kuddos to your pediatrician for not pushing meds on your precious little boy right away. His little body is obviously fighting off something with that fever...so the fever is doing it's job! I know it's no fun for you to see him that way or to be sleep deprived, but cuddling with you and resting are really what are best for him right now. Hang in there....
