I work in banking (credit) and have been for the last 9 years or so. Long story short Im over it already. I'm in need of change. I dont like dreading my job. I know I wont always LOVE my job but the way I feel now is just miiserable. I would like a job that is not repetative and that actually interest me. I would like a job that consist of more than sitting in a quiet office. Where I can get out in the field at times or work from home a couple days a week to get a break from the normal routine. I am also a mom and need flexibility. I can not do sales. Im not good at it. I'm not sure what my next move should be. Anyone have a job they love? If so what do you do? I can look at jobs online all day but I dont get a clear picture of what the "true" job would be like. I know everyone wants to love there job and Im not trying to be unrealistic but to hate my job is just not working for me.

What can I do next?

Right before I saw this I told my husband I wish I could work in a bank. I am a special education assistant and while it is at times wonderful it can be really draining. I wish I could trade with you a couple of days a week. Too bad we don't live close haha. Good luck, I know it's hard.

Do you have friends or acquaintances who work in different jobs? Could you ask them to have coffee and tell you about their work? Networking like this is a good way to find out more about different types of work.

Can you do some internet research? Our state put together a website called iSeek.org that allows you to complete vocational assessments to get ideas about what types of work would fit. It also has data on the demand for different jobs, salary ranges, etc. And what types of training or education is needed.

Could you hire a Life Coach that specializes in career issues? If you google Life Coach TX you'll find people with training in coaching and their specialties. A coach is not a counselor, but someone who can work with you to make life changes.

Or, could you find a Career Counselor? Similar to a coach but more likely to use formal assessments and tools to help you identify options.

Added: As Marda says, there could be classes offered. I have taught a 5-session class through a non-profit called Career & Life Planning for Women.

Our community college has a class for people who are wanting to change jobs. I suggest you look into finding such a class to help you sort it all out. I've not taken the class but remember the write up said it included testing to find our interests and abilities. Abilities is not the right word but I can't think of the word right now. Sorry. And the class reviews various occupations.

I love what I do. Helping people understand what they need to be healthier, teaching them about what their body needs or doesn't need. It's very rewarding to see them happy and on their way to a healthier them. This is what I'm learning from the company It Works Global. We are a health and wellness company. I absolutly love these products, love the leadership, and the freedom I have. The great thing is, it is very aforable to get into. The payout is even better. Be debt free, and check off the things on your dream list. If interested please take a look at this website. http://mholland.myitworks.com

Unfortunately you said no sales, I am with Premier designed and LOVE my work, but it is dire t sales like Mary Kay. Our stuff sells itself though so I don't have to "sell" it. I stay at home with my 3 kids during the day and fit it into my schedule after all my other responsibilities.
