My husband is about to turn 40 and I want to take him somewhere for an overnight stay. I want to stay in the Fort Worth area, but I would be willing to travel to a small town close by like Granbury or someplace like that. I would like to find a nice place such as a B&B for us to stay, but don't want to pay more than $150/night or so. I would like a place with some nice restaurants so we could enjoy a good meal. I'd like a town where there's something nearby to do - nature trails or biking would be nice. Can anyone recommend anything? I don't want to spend a ton but I want it to be memorable. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

One of my responders suggested that we try Cedars on the Brazos in Glen Rose. We went there and had a wonderful time. It is a beautiful B&B. Our room was cozy and comfortable and the B&B is located in a lovely area right off the Brazos River. We loved our hosts, Janice and Loyd. They are a wonderful, sweet Christian couple. We highly recommend their establishment.

We stayed at a wonderful B&B in Tyler called Woldert Spence Manor. And there is alot to do there too. We've also stayed in Jefferson (can't remember the place), but nice town. And in Granbury, we stayed at Arbor House, which was very close to the lake and square.

My husband and I stayed at the Cedars on the Brazos in Glen Rose, TX. It was absolutely wonderful and I believe it's in your price range. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Although it's about a 2 hour drive, I highly recommend Salado, TX. The Rose Mansion is wonderful and they have cute little cabins, too. Very nice place.

Jefferson, TX has some nice places, too. I can't remember the name of the one we stayed at. I want to say it was the something Colonel's House and one of the bedrooms was supposedly haunted. All of the rooms are named after poets. It was a gorgeous place and I would go back again!

Go to bedandbreakfasts.com for more info. Good luck! B. - Arlington, TX

M.,
For my husband's birthday, we stayed at the Stockyard's Hotel in the Celebrity Suite. It is probably more than you want to spend, but they have lower price suites and rooms. It is in the heart of the Stockyards area with lots to do.

My husband and I spent our 5th wedding anniversary at the Hilton hotel in Southlake. It came with breakfast which was great and it is on the square in Southlake. We went to a great Hibachi grill on the square that we got from the hotel. The grill was great and not very expensive. There is also a really nice movie theater in town too. We had a great time and it was pretty affordable. Also when we checked in at the hotel they asked why we were staying and we said it was our anniversary and later that night they sent up a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries with a nice card. They just made a really nice impression on me and I would definately go back. Good luck planning your hubby's party and have lots of fun!
