Need a Second Opinion -- Any Know a Good Orthopidist?

Hi ladies, my husband recently had x-rays done on his foot and was diagnoised with bone spurs. The doctor he went to we have used in the past (when I broke my foot a while back) and we both generally like him and their practice (Drs. Mann and Mann, they're brothers in Oakland). But now the doc is recommending surgery for my husband's foot and before he embarks on such an invasive procedure he would like to meet with another doctor for a second opinion. Does anyone have an orthopidist they have used and like? Or do you know about bone spurs or alternative treatments for them? One the of the issues now is pain management...my husband has a pretty high threshold for pain, but in the last month or so the pain has become excessive and has casued him to readjust his body and its movements so that now other parts of his body are achy and strained. It'd be great if the doc/referal was in the berkeley/oakland area, but SF or elsewhere would be ok too. Thanks in advance for any info or help on this!

Hi M.,

there is an excellent podiatrist (doctor who specializes in feet related problems)
with an office @ St Luke's in SF.

I have had lasting results with his treatment (orthotics)
- your husband should take his previous x-rays along
might avoid having to take more.
Good luck!!

I would go to a podiatrist for a second opinion. Podiatrists can often treat foot problems non surgically. Post Street Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is a group in SF with a podiatrist. ###-###-####
