Need a Speaker on Going Green

I'm looking for a speaker to talk to my women's group about going green in the home. Can anyone recommend someone or an organization I could contact? It would be about 15 minutes at a Monday evening meeting in October. We need someone who would not charge a fee, but nominal travel expenses or a token honorarium would be considered. Thanks for all your great ideas!

I'm not sure where you're located, but you might try contacting Johnson County Community College. They have a student organization in the interior design school that is up to date on the latest green stuff for homes.

Good luck!

I would recommend the Mid-America Regional Council. I used to work there before my little one was born and I know that people on the environmental team do presentations once in a while. You can check them out at www.marc.org.

Contact Bridging The Gap.
They run the community recycling centers in town plus several other environmental education programs. I would call their volunteer coordinator: Laura O'Brian at ###-###-#### x109

You could check with a local Toastmaster's club. They often have speakers available, and I think there's even a Speaker's Bureau that can provide speakers for local community organizations. Go to www.toastmasters.org to find a club near you that you can contact.

I would highly recommend that you contact a company called Magic Touch Cleaning. They are based in Lee's Summit but work all over the metro area and use only green products. The owners of the business are Gary and Trish Walker and they are very committed to educating people on the benfits of going green. Gary has been featured on the local news a number of times and they were also the official cleaners of the last Extreme Makeover Home Edition house here in KC. Below is a link to their website which contains all of their contact information:

Good luck.

Shaklee was the first (1960) and the best nontoxic, biodegradable cleaner Basic-H. I have samples for you and have been using it for 34 years. 2 drops in 16 oz. water is your window cleaner. Oprah and all magazines, books, tv, etc. rave about all the cleaners. They are quaranteed to be the best for you and the earth. In case you haven't seen them in the stores, they can only be purchased (as a life time member for $20) over the internet for a discount or pay retail the same way. Call me at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com.
