Need Carpet and Paint Recommendations

We'll be moving soon, and I'm looking for some recommendations on where to get carpet for the new place. I only need around 400 sq. ft. total, divided among 3 rooms. I'd love to have some suggestions on where I can find good prices/service in and around South OC. Also I have a question about interior paints. What brands have you all had success with as far as coverage and ease of use. I prefer to use as "green" a paint as I can afford. I'd love to use Mythic, but I just can't afford it. So what paint brands have you been happy with?
Thanks so much!!

What can I do next?

We were extremely happy price, quality & service wise with Sterling Carpet in Anaheim. They are on State College. They will be WAY cheaper than like Home Depot & Lowes & in my opinion their installers are better as well.

Paint-- while it isn't "green" (that I know of) I've been very pleased with Dunn Edwards.

Hi H.,

I am an interior designer- Dunn Edwards has a line of paints called- Eco-Shield. It is their line of "green" paints with no fumes, no VOC's. It pretty much can be used in all colors as the base except for really dark colors/pigment based. I recently had a baby and painted his entire room with it as well as my upstairs and you couldn't tell. No fumes. I had to use a different color for a guest room and it didn't come in the Eco-Shield base and 8 mths later you can still sometimes smell it offgassing a bit.

It is actually $1 cheaper than the regular paint base- just because the demand isn't quite their yet, people don't really know about it. Which is so crazy to me! You would think most people are concerned about the toxins they put in their home?!

Good luck.

Hi H.,

My painter/foreman has always used Dunn Edwards. He explained to me why he likes this paint~ one reason is because it does not have lead in it. The coverage is fantastic and they have so many wonderful colors from which to choose. We've always used this paint also and it's really very nice. It lasts a long time and it is easy to clean. If you get the color card of the Mythic you mentioned- the color green you really, really want, Dunn Edwards can color match it for you and they are also superb at doing that. I have a red in my kitchen that was color matched from a Ralph Lauren that I liked a lot. Try that!! You can color match anywhere.

If you are also in need of a painter, I have the best referral you could ever find... and another one after that... I was thinking that perhaps my first referral could help you out and pass on his discount for the paint to you... of course this is all something you'd have to work out with him, but he does such a clean-cut and fantastic job... I actually need him to repaint my house inside again soon. Everyone I know for whom he has painted over the years has felt the same as I- that he's exceptionally clean as he performs his work, he's honest, he's easy to talk to, he's nice to be around, he's very professional, his prices are great and fair... I think he can even show you pictures of his work- it's immaculate. Anyway, it would be great if that discount of his would work out for you :). Let me know and I can give you his number and talk to him for you.

Good luck!
J.

There is a great place in Irvine that sells good quality carpet and a great price. The place is called CSI and you want to talk to Dan. His number is ###-###-####. I am a real estate agent and recommend him to all my clients. Good luck!

We had a horrible experience with Home depot so stay away from them. They subcontracted to a company, who subbed out to a contractor who used day laborers who ate our food and stole my hubby's tools in addition to the horrible installation job.

I don't know if they are still in business, but a lot of my fmily members have used Carpets by Wayne in Yorba Linda.
