Hi S.,
I live in Mableton, close to Smyrna. I work from home so my 3 yo is in preschool part of the week. He needs a friend too! We get pretty tired of each other sometimes! He doesn't even have a sibling. I've been back here about 2 years and haven't had much luck finding Mom friends yet either. We've been to just about every park in south Cobb I'm sure! Seems like ppl just like to keep to themselves these days. I thought it was just me!
To second someone's response Cobb does have a great rec. Program w/several activities for them at various times. Mine has done swimming and is about to start gymnastics. Email me if you'd like to get together sometime , ____@____.com

What area do you live in? People on this board are from all over the metro Atlanta area and some in Alabama and South Carolina, so it's a pretty big range.

OK -now that I know where you are, I also agree that many churches have Mom's Morning Out programs that are great for kids. You can usually enroll them for 1-5 mornings per week. I've met LOTS of other moms at drop off and pick up and formed friendships of my own that way -and my oldest has made lots of friends by going. Some of these are religious and direct off-shoots of the churches where they're housed, and others are just housed in the churches and don't use a religious curriculum or format, so you should be able to find something that suits you. YMCA gyms are also usually very nice with childcare and Parent's Morning Out programs. Another way to meet other adults and have your kids meet and play with other kids.

Try the MOMS Club! It's for stay-at-home moms and part time working moms and it's not religion based so there's a nice mixture of everyone. Their website is momsclub.com and it's called the International MOMS Club. There are different chapters all over. I belonged to one in Louisiana and joined one here right before we moved. I don't belong to it anymore because our needs have changed now that my kids are a little older but it was an excellent way to meet other moms in the area. You can join their playgroups that are based on your kid's ages and meet once a week and they have a calendar with activities on it for at least 3 or 4 days a week that you can participate in or not. Like meeting for lunch, park days, going to a bounce house, etc. It really is a wonderful network and they do community service projects that you can get involved in too if you're up for it. I looked on their website for you and there are two chapters in Smyrna, an East chapter and a West chapter. You would join one based on where you live. Good luck!

Look at church mom's groups. It sounds like having your son involved in short time segmented activities to start would help a great deal.
I don't live in your area but in our area we have sports and recreation parks that offer activities for kids as young as 2y/o. Sports is a great way to build self confidence and learn how to get along with other children. From your second post...this will also help to burn off alot of energy.
My second daughter did Sport tots which introduced her to soccer, basketball and t-ball when she was two.

Hi S.,
I am the mother of an almost-4 yr old girl, and 4 month old girl. I too live in the Smyrna area. I work during the week. I would love to get our kids together to play. Perhaps we could meet at a local playground and see how it goes? Feel free to email me at ____@____.com, and we can discuss further details.

Welcome to Smyrna! You'll love it!

Jenn
