Need Help for Stinky Feet

My son's feet sweat a lot and are really stinky. Both pairs of his sandals stink. He hates wearing socks and when he does, like with sneakers, his socks are always damp after a few hours and those shoes stink as well. Is there anything I can put on his feet to help with the sweating and odor and any thing to rid the shoes of the smell?

Yeah we have stinky sweaty feet here too. What I did is to buy very lightweight leather shoes (not sneakers but they are just as good for active kids). (The brand is www.livieandluca.com). We also bought thinner socks. In the bath I would drop a few drops of tea tree oil and in the morning Id put a bit of powder on his feet before putting the socks on. These things seemed to have helped. Good luck!

I cut and pasted this from another question from a mom...a while ago...

Hope it helps!

"Mercifully, none of my children has inherited 'stinky feet syndrome', but my dad (rest his soul) had it BIG time!! One of my earliest memories is that I could always tell when dad was home as he would take off his shoes when in the house! (LOL).

At some point, they came up with 'odor eaters', a charcoal insert of some kind for shoes. Not sure if they still make them, but if they do, I am sure ya can trim them down to fit your daughter's shoes.

I do have 4 'adolescing' young men in the house. I DO keep an open box of baking soda in each of their rooms, and in laundry baskets (changing the baking soda frequently!)I also keep a bin, in garage, for 'athletic' shoes as those seem to have a stronger aroma...also with baking soda...

Hope you find something that works!"

Amanda mentioned the Oprah show....I watched it too. The remedy was to brew tea and soak your feet in it. Just regular lipton tea bags...it dries out the sweat glands.

My son has the same problem. I finally found socks at Kohl's that are sweat resistant. I also bought him (from Kohl's) Sketchers Airators. They have a special design that allows more airflow.

Hey there. I was watching Oprah the other day and stinky feet was one of the topics. Dr. Oz was on there. They may have the info on her website if you go look. The girl who tried the remedy said it helped immensely.

May not help, but the salesperson at Stride Rite recently told me you can take out the insoles in my toddler's shoes and wash them. Might be worth a try.

Try Dr Schol's foot odor treatment. It is clear and in a small see-through container. It is very affective if you can find it.
