You don't say what religion you are. We go to Highland Avenue Christian Church in Cucamonga. We don't baptize our babies. It's more of a parent/child dedication service. It's done on Sundays in front of the congregation and the pastor does a service where the parent dedicates their child to the lord and promises to raise them in a loving Christian environment. You don't have to be a member or take any classes. It's actually a Nazarene (mainstream Christian) church. There is one in your area - Ontario Church of the Nazarene.

Garden Grove United Methodist Church is where we are members. You do not have to be a member, and Pastor Bob can do it the same week you call. He does a great service which includes him caring your baby around the entire congregation singing a special song. Any Methodist Church will baptize without you being a member or that religion.

I baptized my baby in a catholic church. My boyfriend did not attend any class, the godparents were not required to attend any class either. I attended ONE CLAS, oNE hour long. And yes I said BOYFRIEND,not fiance, not only am I not married but I am DIVORCED. They did ask that one of the godparents be catholic but did not ever ask for proof. It is a beautiful church and all of the clergy there are really great. the class is on the last friday of every month and then you can baptized your baby any sunday after that....just call the church and make an appt with Father Dennis. St Denis church in Diamond Bar. good luck

Most methodist churches are pretty relaxed when it comes to being baptized. You don't have to be a member of the church, and they set it up pretty quickly. I was married at the First United Methodist of Ontario, 10 yrs ago and had 2 of my kids baptized there. My last baby, I had done at the First UMC of Cucamonga (the old stone church) and had my Reverand who did my wedding, and my 1st two kids perform the ceremony. He even did a private ceremony for me! Anyhow- they are pretty great, and I don't regulary attend church. I will however start going now that my kids are easier to manage ( 9 & 5) and will get more out of the sunday school offered. The Methodist church is very open and welcoming and inclusive of everyone, which is nice.

They are not judgemental and won't think less of you not attending regularly- but they do encourage attendace, after all that is the point of being baptized, to learn about Jesus, etc. Go online for their phone # and call them. They are great! :)

If you want a Catholic baptism, you'll be hard pressed to get a baptism without all the classes unless your baby is born VERY ill(which I hope isn't the case for you)or you know a priest that will do it for you. I ended up baptizing both my sons simultaneously. My older one was almost 3 and my younger one was 8 months at the time. I got a lot of flack from my parents for waiting.

Here's what to generally expect:
-if you and your spouse were not married in a Catholic church, expect to go to 2 classes. Also expect a lecture in why you need to be married in the church. The first class is more of an interview to discern why you weren't married in the church and to obtain a commitment as to when a church marriage will happen.
-When you attend your classes, expect that they will not allow your child to attend the class with you. Get a sitter.
-at least one of the Godparents needs to be Catholic AND
confirmed. Your Godparents may have to have some kind of proof that they were confirmed.
-Your Godparents will also need to attend a class. Some churches require that the class be taken at the same place the baptism will take place. So be sure to ask.

Hope this helps!
