You'd be amazed at the money you can make by selling unused items you have around the house!
Im looking for some ways to make some extra cash this holiday season. I work 40 hrs a week along with my hubby but his hours have just recently been cut down. We are a famlily of 5 and money can get tight. I though about selling stuff that we dont need/want on Craigslist, I am also a little crafty- I have considered making and selling bows and bow holders. Any other thoughts or ideas???

I am a single mom. My daughter's father's rights were terminated a month after she was born. I needed a second job but didnt want to be away from my daughter that much so since i had experience with kids (babysitting and childcare) I decided i would really try to grow a babysitting business on the side.
I have been doing it over 4 years successfully (on top of my 40 hours a week job) I work nights weekends and have a calendar online they see my availability and book me off of. I have over 30 families now and make no less than 1500 a month in extra money.
When they need a sub, I get paid $15 minimum per hour to sit with an elderly person who needs some assistance, but not nursing care. I get more if I am running his errands to cover gas. Usually he sleeps or watches tv and I just sit on the computer. You will probally have to pass a background check and it is stressful when he is so rude.
You could babysit on the weekends or school holidays. I know some divorced people who need babysitters overnight due to getting called in. I have been offered me 5 per hour minimum cash per child. A doctor and his wife pay $20 per hour, but they make the sitter come to their house without any kids and stick to a super strict routine, including activities.
If your husband is willing, he could easily charge $20 per hour to hang christmas lights for people and then remove them after the holiday for another charge. Seniors may need help getting the tree out of the attic and assembled.
Also, cleaning out gutters is always needed this time of year $10 per hour minimum. Window washers make $100 per house, inside and out. Raking leaves, assembling bikes and other toys, picking up large items and transporting them home by truck for people(playhouses, bikes, battery-operated cars). Yard mowing pays at least $15 per small year, 100 per large yard. Passing out phonebooks pays $10 per hour. If you have retail experience, stores might hire you if someone quit.
Hi there,
I did a Garage Sale recently and made some nice money.
Just an idea,

I would sell on Craigslist and do your crafty stuff at holiday open houses and online.
I personally (never would/never have) involve myself with MLM because I don't care for the tactics used but if you are into investing, selling, recruiting, etc....it might be your thing.
I sell Scentsy and it has been a wonderful and fun source of extra income for my family. If you are interested in more information feel free to check out my website or contact me personally. aprilbriner.scentsy.us
I think ebay is still offering free listings no matter the starting bid, so I'm trying to clear out things like shoes I bought for one wedding and nice clothes that do not fit. The nice thing with ebay vs. Craigslist is people buy in isolation a little more on ebay I find. Etsy is also a good place to sell crafty things. If you make holiday craft items, see if your workplace allows you to post something in the lunchroom. We have some co-workers who do that and people put in holiday orders for customized gifts, so it works out for everyone. She puts a few samples out and descriptions of the options.
If you have any free time, you could post something offering to help someone deep-clean for the holidays so it is not a long-term committment but it might be a little bit of cash on a weekend (or whenever you are free).
I sell items on Craigslist regularly and it's worked out pretty well. Make sure you meet the person in public for safety though! I also sell a lot on eBay. Unfortunately eBay charges for listings, right now it's .25 cents per listing for auction styles, but they offer free listings from time to time and the first 100 .99 cent listings are free. You can reach a wider market with eBay which is perfect if you do make and sell bows. I would also post an ad on Craigslist for the bows too though, I've seen some on my town's page. Good luck! :)
