We are looking to buy a wagon for our son's second birthday, but don't know which one to get. I know there are quite a few different brands and varieties out there. If you have bought or used a wagon that you really like, I'd love to hear about it. We would prefer one that could fit in the back of our Subaru wagon.

What can I do next?

We have the "Radio Flyer BIG RED ATW" wagon. It is a metal wagon with wooden slats around 3/4 of the sides and it has the big rubber tires filled with air. We have had it for about 5 years and it is still moving smoothly! All my kids have enjoyed it so far. Great for zoo trips and park outings. This one is a little bulky........we could get it in the back of our Pontiac mini-van. Have fun!

I think the best ones are the radio flyer (I think they are radio flyer) wagons w/the air tires. The ride in them is smooth and they are easy to handle. We have one but we don't use it for outings b/c to me it's much easier to use the stroller.
You do need to check on the weight limit on all the wagons that you consider. Some of them have a lower weight limit than others. There is one that has a limit of 70 pounds which is not high at all. That's 2 3 year old kids... Also, I think a wagon can be a little tougher on your back b/c you are pulling rather than pushing like with a stroller.

We have the step 2 Safari Wagon with the canopy. It has cup holders, and a storage area. We really like it. They also make it without the canopy. Either option is very sturdy, you can order directly from Step 2, sometimes BJ's Wholesale Club has them.

There are many nice wagons out there. One thing that I would definitely pay attention to that I haven't seen mentioned by the other mom's is.... try and make sure it has actual rubber tires and not plastic ones! Seeing that you need/ want something that will fit in the back of your Subaru I would look into something like the Radio flyer voyager or ultimate b/c they are a little more compact in my opinion... as the handle is supposed to fold flat. I personally am not sure if it does b/c we have a Berlin Amish made Heavy Duty wagon ourselves. I absolutely love ours! The biggest down side to the one we have is that the handle does not fold completely flat so it would be a little more difficult to get into a smaller vehicle. (We have an explorer so its not a problem for us.) My parents bought the Berlin Heavy Duty for us when my oldest was born b/c we know they are built to last forever! They still have the one my grandparents bought 32 years ago and its in great shape! They use it when they have our kids. We use our wagon all the time..at fairs, on trips to the zoo, etc.
Good luck finding the perfect wagon for your families needs.

I have a Radio Flyer that I got last fall for my now 20 mo. It has been great. It has a detachable canopy, seats for 2 kids, with safety belts. And the seat back fold down seperately so if my son is sitting on one side, he can use the other as a table.

My son had a Step 2 wagon that was wonderful, durable, portable and well loved. Added bonus, most of their products are made in Ohio.

We love our basic Radio Flyer red wagon with wood-slat sides. I found it on sale on Amazon and when I signed up for their credit card I got the wagon for something like $15 with free shipping! I bought pads to go on the bottom and around the sides to make it a little more comfy. The boys LOVE wagon rides!
