I have a cousin that is getting married, but is having a hard time finding someone to marry her and her fiancee. They do not attend church at this time and don't have a lot of money to have to spend $200 plus. Anyone have any ideas on where to find someone at a lower cost? They are in the Peoria area.
Thanks.

My best friend searched and got ordained online so that she could marry my husband and I - kinda like Joey did on Friends. It was totally legal - she checked with local, county and state departments to make sure. I think it cost less than $100 for her to become ordained and she gave us the most perfect and personal wedding present ever by doing that.
I don't know what site she used but you could just do an online search and see what comes up - maybe you could marry them?
I don't know if it's the same in every state, but in California you can go to the County offices, get a marriage license, and get a civil union, which is the same as a marriage.
Call the place where they got the license. They know who signs them and also the justice of the peace.
Do an online search for your area. You should find a justice of the peace.
in NJ the County Clerk will perform them. Even though they are a "civil union" you can incorporate Readings and whatever else you like into the whole service (you just don't have a rehersal). They will come to the place of your choosing, so we got married on the beach and it was beautiful. I don't remember what the cost was.
They can go to the town hall and get married by a judge. A civil service is still a marriage, the same as a religious ceremony.
