Need to Get My Carpets Clean

Does anyone know of a good carpet cleaning product? There seems to be a lot out there, but I don't want to spend a lot of money. Has anyone had success with these? Spray on, scrub, and vaccum out? Should I rent a rug doctor, or is it better to pay a little more and have a professional do it? Any ideas would be helpful.

What can I do next?

According to Consumer Reports, the only professional carpet cleaners they recommend is Stanley Steamer. FYI, was told by a Coit agent that I could do just as well as them by using my shop vac!

We recently rented a rug doctor at home depot. since we only have one big room with carpet we didnt think most comapanies would come out to do just one room. we used the cheaper shampoo (not the rug doctor stuff) and it worked great!! We paid about $30 for everything and we really happy with the results. if you have a lot of carpet, it is probably worth having someone come out.
