For those that pray, would you please pray for my daughter now. In the next couple of hours she may be fired from her job. She made a big mistake last night. They are making her work today as they are doing a store-wide inventory. She's only been on the job a few weeks and she's done a good job up until last night. She left some merchandise in the glass case instead of putting it in the safe. Nothing was lost or stolen. But this is a big deal. They said they would talk with her at the end of the shift, 3:30 central time. She is pretty well convinced they will let her go. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

EDITED- The only update I have is that her immediate supervisor told her that she was to come in tomorrow because they didn't have anyone else to work. She said she could not guarantee her anything. The boss above them gave her the cold shoulder today and she was told that they would deal with this but that she didn't have time to deal with this today. I'm hoping that the managers just think that treating her this way will drive the point home of how serious it was. I guess we'll see what happens. She doesn't mean to be negative about it. It's just that she signed a lot of forms promising to follow the security protocols.

I appreciate the prayers :) I just hate watching my kids suffer, even when they bring it on themselves.

NO, NO, NO... This inventory was planned a long time ago. It just happens that the inventory was probably the reason she forgot. I know she was stressed about getting home late and then having to be back at the store just a few hours later. I think she was thinking about getting home to bed, hoping her son would let her sleep and just forgot. I said nothing is missing or stolen. What she forgot to put in the safe was dimonds. But they were still inside of the locked glass case which is inside of a Sears store. She didn't follow protocol.

I still haven't heard anything.

Whoa - why are they continuing to let her work? If they wanted to fire her for misconduct then they needed to do it on the spot. Not let her continue to work. By continuing to let her work, they deemed her trustworthy enough to do so.

She shouldn't "let" them fire her at 3:30. She needs to speak up for herself. She needs to ask to be put on a written warning (or a final written warning saying that if she breaks the rules again, then she will be fired on the spot).

Good luck!!

I will say a prayer for her. But, maybe this isnt the best place to work. if they are going to "use" her and make her work her whole shift before talking to her. That is chickensh!t.

Prayers going up.

Please let your daughter know she needs to become more positive, instead of being convinced "they will let her go". If she is doing a good job and made an honest mistake, she should admit it and ASK for a second chance.

If they do let her go, at least she has gained some new experience and can start looking for another job right away.

Blessings.....

For all those who don't get why they are making her work today:

If she made a mistake and they have to do a storewide inventory of the merchandise to verify everything is indeed still in the store due to that mistake, then yes, she should pull her weight to make up for lost manhours. She didn't make a customer based mistake and there seems to be nothing wrong with her people skills, so they put her to use where they could use her while the work gets done. Maybe they want to observe her closer to make a determination in regards to her work ethic and see if she is really remorseful before they make a decision.

That said, SLM, I pray your daughter understands the severity of what could have happened and relay's that to her employer's in a way that they will give her one more chance to prove it to them.
