Hi, I have been going to the same ob for years but the last time I was there I felt rushed so now I am looking for a new one. I have so many girly problems that I need a good knowlegable doctor that will take the time to listen. I also prefer women to men. The lady's got the plumbing so the seem to understand more. Please if you have a great doctor let me know. I live in Queen Creek so I am looking for one also near here. My last doctor was at dobson & chandler Heights.

What can I do next?

I really like my OB/GYN, her name is Ann Kimmel. She has her own practice by Banner Desert. The number is ###-###-####. I would stay away from Valley Women for Women.

I always recommend Contemporary Care for Women (www.careforwomen.net)and especially love Dr. Tamanaha and Dr. Lepetich, both males. There are females in the practice too that are very well respected. Because I am a Nurse Midwife and used to train/supervise both female and male resident OB/GYN I have to disagree with your assumption that a woman OB/Gyn will be more understanding and a better choice. I found repeatedly that woman OB/Gyn's tended to be less gentle and have more trouble with compassion for their patients. That is not to say that a woman physician should be avoided, just choose based on character and competence rather than their gender. Best wishes choosing your physician. I hope you find someone you really trust and with which you feel comfortable. R., Certified Nurse Midwife since 1999, now happily married SAHM of 2.

I'm in the market for a new OB also. I don't have one to recommend to you, but I have one to stay away from. Valley Women for Women is not an office I would recommend. The doctors there are very very nice. Dr. Van Eken is wonderful, but the office staff and nurse practitioners are so unorganized, unprofessional and unsympathetic. I had a miscarriage a week ago and I've had to wait this week to have a D & C done because the surgical scheduler was out of the office Friday (when I had my ultrasound). I'll definitely be looking for a new office after this ordeal is over. Good luck in your search. I live in Queen Creek too, please let me know if you find an OB that you really like.

Someone on this site recommended Womens Health Now (http://womenshealthnow.net) to me on this site, and now I am doing the same. The primary doctor is a male, but he does have a nurse practioner in his practice, Jenna, who is just as wonderful. Both had plenty of time to answer any questions or concerns - I think that they got frustrated with me since I rarely had any! Good luck in finding a good match.
