the new top loaders have gotten very strong positive reviews in consumer reports..
I wish I had waited on buying new machines. I bought front loaders and I hate them.
Best wishes!
Has anyone recently purchased the LG or other new top-load high capacity washing machines? We have had front-load Whirlpool duets for a few years and LOVED them. We need to replace them for our new home, and are considering the new LG top load / 5.0 cubic feet washer without the agitator... they are too new to know how well they clean and if anyone likes them? Please let me know your experience! My default will be Whirlpool Duets on pedastals again but very curious about the performance of the other...
Thanks! S. S

Someone posted a question about washing machines yesterday or the day before, and someone responded that she has an LG HE top load washer, and loves it.
I got curious, and looked it up on Best Buy's website- it got really good reviews. For some reason, I can't find it now- something is wrong with the website, none of the top- load HE washers is coming up, but if I remember correctly, there were 69 reviews and it got 5 out of 5 stars.
I found the same thing on Amazon. It has only 1 review, but it's 5 star.

I'm not too thrilled with my front load because it smells. I have to use those special cleaning tablets for front load washers every month or so. I did some reading about front load washers because my bro. and SIL have the same washer we do, and they have a lot of trouble with the smell- and the clothes come out smelling.
Turns out that front loaders don't drain as well, which is what causes the problem. There are things that can be done to improve it, but I'm thinking that if I can get an HE washer that is a top load- and doesn't stink, why hassle with cleaning door gaskets, etc. Anyway, here is the information I was referring to on front load washers:

Good luck! :)
We have a GE profile high capacity washer. I love it. I specifically wanted a top loader because I am ALWAYS forgetting one thing or another and have to run to the washer to add it to the load. I don't think you can open a front loader washer once it's started the it's cycle. Sorry, can't offer you a review for either washer you're interested in - just throwing my 2 cents in for sticking w/ the top load washer. :)
I have Samsung front loaders and love them. I can't remember where I read this but because of government intervention most innovations are going into the front loaders. The top loaders just can't compete energy wise so manufactures are just keeping them around for those hold outs that just don't like front loaders.
I really didn't see an energy difference going from top to front but lord my laundry has never been cleaner!
We just bought a maytag top loader haven't used it yet because it won't be here until Saturday :( you should see how much laundry I have piled up! I won't get a front loader because it would be hard to open the door our laundry room is narrow.
This is what we got http://www.lowes.com/pd_292543-46-MVWX700XW_###-###-####+...
I hate my front loader so my answer is top :)
We just bought a Maytag 3.6 Cu. Ft. Top-Load Washer (#:MVWX600XW) and think it's great! It's a top loader, but is also high-efficiency. I just read the Lowe's reviews and some people say it doesn't clean their clothes, but we haven't had any such problems. We had a Kenmore front loader washer/dryer we bought in 2005 and hated them after a while. The dryer blew its computer board after 2 years and Sears did nothing (even after I went on the news and complained about them!) and the washer had to be replaced a couple of months ago. Hopefully this one is better made!
I love my whirlpool duets and heard that the top loaders ( with no agitator ) didn't always separate the clothes well but maybe are better now as there seem to be some newer ones out now.
Hi There,
I just bought a front load Kenmore and am returning it for a top load Whirlpool. I did my homework on Consumer Reports and both types of washers have pros and cons. I had a Maytag Neptune front loader and it was not very good. I had to replace the motherboard after only a few years and then it just didn't perform well after that (spotting on clothes, etc). I haven't received the new top load Whirlpool (Cabrio) yet, but it is highly rated in Consumer Reports and by the appliance salesman at Sears. If I am not mistaken, the LG brand didn't fare so well in Consumer Reports. I must admit, I am still torn between the front load and top load, but have recently heard many unhappy front load stories.
Good luck!
I'm weary of LG. We bought a new oven and one of the burners went out in three years. A few friends have issues with LG too and refuse to buy from them again because their customer service is awful. We won't buy anything from LG again. Our repairman (just a general repair guy) told us that he can repair any brand except LG because LG is so hard for him to work with.
We have Fridgidaire Affinity front load washer/dryer. Might not be what you want, but we love ours! Would highly recommend that brand. We also have a Maytag and Amana appliances. Would definitely recommend them too.
