Night Fevers

I have had times with my kids that one will have a fever over night and better in the morning. It will usually start with them not feeling good and then a slight fever and better in the morning. But, my 18 month old has been burning up at night for the last 3 nights. He goes to bed in good spirits, is not cranky or anything like a fever usually is and cool to teh touch. But he is burning up to the touch a few hours later. It is not due to a blanket because it has been really warm lately. I figure to give him some tylenol before I leave. When I get up in the morning, he still sleeps and he will still be hot. Then by the time I leave for work, he is cooler like there was never anything. The reason I wonder about this is that it has been for the past 3 nights. He sleeps with us so I know this is not how he always is at night. Have any of you had this happen? No runny nose ar anything like that. He was constipated earlier this week but that is it. he does not sleep with my arm around him or anything like that either.

Just to add, I will be taking him to the doc for his checkup next week. Since he is fine all day, I just wonder if any one else has had this for multiple nights. Night only

So What Happened?

I spoke to a nurse and since he has no rash or cough, is not acting out of the ordinary, is eating fine, the constipation did not last more than a few days, and ws not some weird color, they do not think they need to see him now. He is most likely fighting off some small virus, his body fighting when he is resting. If any of this changes, I should call again. But I would most likely have to take him to the ER since it is a holiday weekend

I have that as an adult almost every night. As soon as the sun goes down my temp goes up. I take my temp and it is always high.

Who knows! I have been like this since I was about that age (says my mother)

Something similar happened to my friends' kids recently and after the fact they realized they had Fifths Disease. Usually it has a rash that goes along with it and her kids didn't really get that but some of their other symptoms matched and other kids they were exposed to had it, so that's how they figured it out. You may google it and see if your kids have the same things.

My question is why are you not checking in with your doctor?

I have never experienced this personally, I would for sure call the doc.

I had this about a month ago with my 3 year old. It happened a few nights in a few (3 or 4). But he acting completely fine all day. And then it went away. I didn't take him to the doctor because it wasn't a high fever (100-101). My only guess is some kind of mild virus.
