I am thinking about getting a Nook Color. What are your favorite features of the Nook? Besides a reader, what can it do? Do you get magazines on your Nook? What is the difference between the Nook and Kindle? I definilty want something that can connect to the web and youtube.

What can I do next?

I LOVE my Nook. I get magazines, you can get newspapers too, books, etc. I LOVE the wishlist so that if I hear of a book I want in the future, I type it in and it's there for reference when I'm next ready for a book.

It has apps-my son likes playing AngryBirds and now I'm addicted too! I surf the web all the time, etc, etc.

You can also get music on it, keep files & pictures and lots of other stuff. I like the NookKids stuff as well.

I got a Sony Reader Daily Edition as a service award and since I knew nothing about ereaders in general I started comparing features and reading reviews about the various brands available out there.
I make a point of reading the highest scoring reviews, but also the lowest scoring reviews so I get a good idea what some of the issues are before I buy anything.
One thing that comes up about the Nook Color over and over is the battery charge time/life.
It lasts roughly 8 hours on a charge where as other ereaders can last weeks (14 - 20 DAYS) on a single charge (the e-ink technology is really easy on the battery, but it can be a little challenging to read - it's not back lit, so it's more like reading a real book where you need adequate lighting to see clearly).
All the displaying power of the color screen really chews up battery life quickly.
Also - there's no replacing the battery if it should go bad.
If those are not worries for you, then - yeah - it looks like a wonderful product.
Google 'compare ereaders' and/or check out Consumer Reports and you'll see some pretty good comparisons of features between products.

love love love love love my nook. I have the solitare app, and the notes app (when I'm thinking of things I'll make notes of them). I love that you can get books from the library on the nook. It is nice to surf the web on it - so it's like a mini ipad. I can read it at night, in the dark, without a light. They have free fridays so every friday you can get a free book from b/n (they choose the book and it's available to everyone).

I had a Sony reader for awhile. It was fine. My husband got me an iPad for our anniversary last October. I have the iBook app, Kindle app, Nook app, and the Google books app. I love having a choice, however, most titles are the same price across the apps. Plus, the iPad has lots of other fun stuff, too! I do switch off and read a "real" book sometimes, too.

Enjoy!
