Kristy,
Any chance you are pregnant?
For me, I feel like I have the worst hangover for the first 16 weeks everyday.

Hi Moms,
For the past 6 weeks I have had NOOOO energy.. I swear the whole month of February someone was sick in my home (me, my son, or my husband)... I have felt fine for the past 2-3 weeks but my energy level is at 0%.... I work out 5x's per week ( always have), I eat pretty healthy, and I take vitamins everyday (probiotics, vit. c, women's 1 a day, Astragulus root, B12)........ Some friends have told me to try B12 or Ginseng and it doesn't help AT ALL...... Anyone else going through this? Any suggestions on what I can take to boost my energy level again?
PS I'm not pregnant and I sleep 7 hrs per night BUT I do wake up about 3-4 times because I pee constantly (I've ALWAYS woken up a lot. That is not anything knew)
Thanks moms!!! I am going next week to get a panel done on my thyroid, iron, etc....

take a nap Lovingly dump everything on Dad and go to bed as early as possible. low iron, you may havee a low grade fever left over from everyone being sick See a doc.
Hi Kristy! You sound like me....tired, and someone always sick lately!! It sounds like you are doing everything right. Are you sleeping enough? I know that is obvious...but you have probably missed a lot of sleep caring for a sick family. My best days are the ones where I allow myself a brief nap when my daughter naps. I mean brief...I set my cell phone for 10-20 minutes. Even if I only actually fall asleep for 30 seconds, I feel so revived. Even just laying down for 10 minutes, and really relaxing helps. Being a mom is really tiring!!! I think especially staying home all day!! That is non-stop entertaining, cleaning, cooking, etc. Is there any chance you might have #2 on the way??? I do, and that makes me extra sleepy. By the way, kudos on your love of animals...us too!!!!
A. :)
Back off on the work outs...your body is telling you that you require mosre rest. The B-12 should help. Sometimes the body metabolizes quicker or slower than "normal", so give it at least a week to see if this is helping you. Have you had blood work done? Could be iron deficiency. I worked for a medical intuitive for several years and he can "scan" you and tell you the root cause and recommend a special blend of herbs that you make a tea from. Let me know if you want the contact info.
Blessings
and yes, boys are VERY active!!!
Hi Christy,
Well, considering that you have a 2 year old at home (so do I, but my little girl is not quite that active), perhaps you're just understandably tired! :)
But.......maybe your immune system is shot from trying to fend off everyone else's illness, and fighting your own. I know that when my husband has a really nasty cold, I try to let him rest, so then I feel like single mommy, and it's exhausting. Have you thought about trying anything to boost your immune system? Some options might be echinacea, zinc, or a recent discovery of mine, Silverbiotics, which you can find at GNC. Rather than just B12, you might want to try a B-complex vitamin - it's usually a combination of several B vitamins and vitamin C (which is also an immune booster), and might be more effective. I'm not a nutritionist, but I am a therapist and believe diet and exercise play a big part in our energy levels and mood, and also I did a lot of nutritional research last year when my mother was going through treatment for lung cancer. As a last note, sometimes when we're really tired we choose not to exercise, but that tends to just be a vicious cycle. If you could find a little time for yourself to go for a brisk walk, bike ride, yoga class, it might actually help to increase your energy level.
Take care, and hope you feel better!
S. :)
On top of the advice you've been given, I would also try just taking a break. I went through a period of several weeks myself recently where I didn't have the energy to do anything either. I still did what I always do, but like you said, my energy was at 0. I thought it might be burn out. So I took a couple days to just do what I wanted to do, reading, drawing, watching movies. My husband and I also got a babysitter and went out, just us. I really did feel better after that. For me at least, it was just that I was burnt out on the daily routine.
I noticed someone else suggested mono. I've had that before, and it does knock you down energy-wise. But the first symptoms of that are swollen glands and fever. If you think it's a possibility, it's worth getting tested for it. I was down for a month with it and was told that if I didn't rest it would develop into lupus.
Ad more protein to your diet ... specially the soy protein. Avoid drinks 1/2 hour before bedtime. If you have trouble sleep ... try sleeping aids like Tylenol Simply Sleep (just one per night). When was the last time you did a colon cleanser? if never it is time to do ... no need to buy expense medications. Eat more green and lots of fruits in the morning specially berries and mellows ...
No energy, lethargy, can be a symptom of many sicknesses. If you were not working out or taking vitamins, I would have you start there. B complex really helps normally and if it doesn't, then I would see your doctor and ask for a bloodwork panel to rule out anything else. Could you be pregnant again? I often get the blahs, expecially after being sick, but I know that if I force myself to get up and out of the house, to workout, eat better and take some vitamins, not to mention a few swigs of Pepsi Max ( my mommy drug) then I will be bouncing off the walls in no time. You may also be suffering from depression, a chemical imbalance of feel good endorphins that stimulate us to be active and happy. Being depressed doesn't always mean we are crying and sad, curled up in a ball, lack of energy or drive can be a symptom. It's common in mothers of young children because the stress of parenting coupled with the hormonal changes we have for years after giving birth can be taxing on our bodies. Try finding an activity that you totally love, that has nothing else to do with caring for anyone else but you. Volunteer at a shelter, go horseback riding, something totally you. Do it once a week and see if you start feeling better during those times. It will help lift your spirits. But first, see your doctor. Not to scare you, but some of the first signs of cancer is excessive tiredness, or tiring easily. If your body is tired, it is being worked somehow, maybe in a way you don't know about.
Keep us posted, take care of yourself, so you can better care for others. Your hubby and son...and pets, deserve and energetic, well balanced, happy mom.
Is there a possibility you could be pregnant??!!!
Maybe decrease sugar and increase probiotics. also, get outside as much as you can. Get some vitamin D from the sun while spring is coming, and get some fresh air. These things help me. Also, allow yourself some lazy lounging time.
Kristy,
This happened to me too. I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor. I trained every day and ate the right foods. I rarely visit a doctor, but was so frustrated that I went and found out that I had a virus similiar to the virus that causes mono. The doctor did claim to have a treatment, but it is quite expensive and I don't have insurance that will pay for it. So, I am still struggling with it, but I would suggest that you see a doc. I've heard of others who ended up finding out they had Lyme Disease or Thyroid disorders and were able to get treatment and feel better.
Have you been getting any sun exposure? Without sunlight your body cannot produce enough Vitamin D which can make you feel tired. Just a thought.
Fatigue can be a symptom of so many illnesses (hypothyroidism, anemia, MS, Mono). I would see your doctor. He/she can take a full medical history and possibly connect the dots to any other symptoms you may be having (even seemingly unrelated ones), do some blood work, and hopefully get you a diagnosis and/or treatment if necessary.
Hi Kristy,
I have 4 boys. 14 years ago I sounded just like you. I ate healthy and took vitamins. I was still exhausted and also had terrible PMS. A gym owner introduced me to brand of vitamins that I tried. Within a month no only did I feel like a different person with lots more energy but people were coming up to me telling me I looked so heathy. OUr whole family started using all the products and our pattern of getting sick and run down ended. Now we go to the Dr. for Wellness visits, WOW, that has saved us a ton on money. Here is the site: www.bloomingsassy.com
Have you ever checked your TSH level? It could be off possibly. That was my only symptom, fatigue when I went to the ER just for fatigue. Then I was hospitalized for hypothyroidism. It was all news to me. I feel great when my thyroid is level now. Adrenal system is a culprit a lot of times and people have no other symptoms little to no I should say. Maybe a trip to the doc for a physical if things don't change could help. Good luck and God bless
Hi Kristy, Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but I've been drinking MonaVie for 3 years and many people I have met who are also drinking it report a lot of extra energy. I suggested it to my receptionist and now she runs around like a maniac! I personally haven't felt the energy rush but I sleep much better and don't get migraines anymore. There is an advertiser here on Mamasource for MonaVie, you can check with her or I am also a distributor and would be happy to provide you with a sample bottle and answer any questions you may have. ~J.

Check your Thiroid. this is the body´s energy regulator
Is it that you are pregnant?
S.
Are you sure that you're not pregnant? Try to cut back on working out. If you're run down, you need to take care of yourself. You can go back to your regular workout later.
Plus, you have a 2 year old. They do zap the energy right out of you. I know, I have one. If you don't take multi-vitamins, start; also eat greens. They have chlorophyl that will help boost immunity.
I to have no energy and a friend gave me an article from Fitness magazine about taking Vitamin D. The article mentioned that we get a small amount of it from food, but the nutrient is mainly produced from ultraviolet B radiation in sunshine. Because most of us can't get enough D from the sun, they recommend taking a supplement dailey of at least 2,000 IU a day. You can find out if you are low in this supplement by ask your doctor for a vitamin D blood test.
I'm going to start supplementing my diet with Vitamin D to see if this increases my energy. Article mentions several health benefits just too many to list. If you would like me to email you the article I would be happy to.
Good luck and God Bless!
Hi Krysty, as I read your request there was one thing that came to mind too. I also work out at leasts 5 days a week. A few months ago my husband & I became destributors for a company called Advocare. Have you heard of it? Advocare has a lot of differant products to help your life, as far as protein drinks, supplements, meal replacements, etc. The one thing I think would help you is "Spark." Spark is an energy drink that comes in 5 differant flavors. You can buy it in already measured packs, easy to bring with you or a container that you measure out how much you want. This energy drink is sugar free & is packed with B12 & other vitamins. You can mix it with water or add to a shake, or your favorite drink. You can have it 1-3 times a day. This drink has caffeine in it, but it also comes in caffeine free, if you are like me & you don't do caffeine well. My husband drinks the caffeinated one at least once a day & sometimes brings it with him to work out, instead of water. I think you would really like it. I am going to give you the link to our website & I would love to answer any other questions you might have. This drink is also safe for kids. There have been cases of children with ADD that have been put on it & it helps them focus more & has worked wonders in their life. Spark is the #1 seller for Advocare. Anyway, would love to answer any questions you might have. Here is the website:https://www.advocare.com/09022588/default.aspx
Please let me know what you think.

Take a break! Stop your workouts for a few days. Your body is telling you it is exhausted. Listen to it. Gradually your energy will come back and you will be your own self again.
I also exercise a lot, and have fatigue (and lots of difficulty exercising) when my thyroid levels are out of whack. Go to your doctor and see if you can get your TSH and free T3's and T4's checked out.
If you are diagnosed with hypothyroidism and you don't want to be on medication, do some research--there are many natural ways to try to bring it into balance. I'm not on medication anymore, but I'm not certain what my levels are, though I haven't been overly tired. It could be some of the things I'm eating, or it could just be that my levels are different now that I'm not pregnant. (I had 3 children within 2 1/2 years!)
this happened to us last summer - although my son was in day care, and thats where it all started. I contracted mono!!!!! the theory is he got it from the day care and brought it home. He was sick on and off for 6 weeks (from ear infections, to pink eye to vomiting and diahrea- it was really crazy!) needless to say, we removed him from that environment! then I would also end up with sore throat/sinus infections, etc. . I went to the walk in clinic 3 times in 6 weeks because i wasn't getting better (constant sore throat)and noooooo energy. Then I went to my primary physician and she sent me for tests. I thought she was joking about the mono. She said no, you have the symptoms, the blood test will tell for sure. it came back positive. How could I be 35 and get mono? daycare! Fortunately in young children (he was 14 months), they get over mono in just a few days, but for older people, it was ~8-12 weeks :( Just a thought, do you have a sore throat? its not something I would have ever thought of for me! Your Dr. should be able to determine the cause for the 0 energy. I sure hope you feel better soon!
Maybe exercise? Or possibly you are still recovering. Seriously, it sucks the life out of you taking care of sick ones!
If you have been around sick people you may want to increase your Vitamin C. Even if you aren't having typical "sick" symptoms, you could be fighting something off which is causing you to be chronically tired. Double your usual Vitamin C dosage and keep it there for a month. It should only be a matter of days after you start the Vitamin C that you begin to feel better. If you don't, it's probably something else. Maybe low iron? Best of luck to you,
Jen - mom of three boys ages 5, 2.5, and 1 year
You may want to look to see if you are having any trouble with your thyroid. That is what happened to me. It is a simple blood test and my doctor said something like 70% of women will have this problem sometime in their life time. One you have it, it rarely goes away.
Before you run to the doctor, here is an online quiz that may point you in the right direction: http://thyroid.about.com/library/hypoquiz/blhypoquizi.htm
good luck!
Kristy,
First and foremost, as several others have said on here, I would go to your GP and request some bloodwork. I was going throught the same thing, and, (not to scare you, as mine was an extreme situation), I was diagnosed with leukemia. Doing great now, though! It could be a number of things...anemia, thyroid condition, low iron. Before trying anything else, I would check with your doctor and just have a complete blood panel run! Good luck to you, and please let us know what you find out!
Take Care,
S.
Hi Kristy I would suggest going to the Dr. and having your thyroid level checked. That happened to me after the birth of my Daughter, and the results were way high.It also helped with the weight loss.
i read your request and just want to throw a few things out here, one what about checking your hormone levels? or what I do when i feel blah is get accupunture. if you want someone good try tony wilcox at acupuncuture now, he is the accupunturist for the panthers hockey team.
You are probably not taking enough B12. Check wth Dr. or Pharmacy
Some of the other suggestions are worth checking into. But I wonder how much sleep you've been getting. You can take all the vitamins in the world, but if you are not allowing your body enough rest, it will be tired. It's simple math. If you have been doing double-duty with everyone sick and you fighting off being sick, and you're still working out 5 times a week, how much sleep have you been getting? If you are sleeping 7 hours or so now, but went several days here and there throughout the last 2-3 weeks on short sleep, then your body needs to make that sleep up. Sleep deprivation doesn't go away after one good sleep. You need to recoup some of those lost hours. Try to go to bed 30 minutes or an hour earlier for the next several nights (and sleep a little later if you can). In a few days, you may have the spring back in your step. Or, you will know that you need to check things out further, perhaps with a doctor.
Hope you are back to yourself again soon!
I say listen to your body...it's an amazing machine that often times knows what it needs. Also, sometimes you can have a depleted energy level when you're body is fighting off an infection/illness but has not actually begun showing symptoms. A couple of months ago I was tired almost every day around 2 and took a nap when my son was. Then a month later I got the flu.
