So I thought my last baby was going to be my last, but I have decided I do want anoher one. My youngest is just at 6 months old now. My hubby and I decided we want to start trying again in July, but when do I need to go off the pill so that it all works in July (or July hopefully)?
Before I always went off a few months before, is this still the case? I am on Ortho-Tricycin and I actaully just took my first pill yesterday (I switched over from the mini pill). Should I have just waited to start taking anything?
I went off the pill in the month of Feb, used condoms all through March and stopped 1st of April conceived the 16th of April at 36 yrs old. So I would go off March or April if you want to clear your system, use condoms then according to your cycle start TTC end of June beginning of July. Good luck, how exciting!
I would just stop taking the pill after your next period and get on prenatals right away. Because you can definitely get pregnant that next cycle, so I'd be prepared with the prenatals just in case that happens. But personally I think it's good to have at least a few pill-free cycles before you conceive...just to get your body in a more purified state with no drugs in there.
Congrats on deciding to go for #3! (or #4?). My husband and I decided to stick on #2, mostly just because we had several serious health scares with #2 and I'm frightened to rock the beautiful boat we now have! Otherwise I'd be right there with you. :)
Technically, as soon as you stop taking the pill you can get pregnant. My OBGYN let me know that you should go off the pill within 2-3 months of when you "want" to get pregnant, but not before you are "prepared" to get pregnant. Some women are regular immediately and some aren't. In our case, I talked with my doctor and went off the pill at the end of that cycle (week later) and was calling him again a month later for my first prenatal visit!
It depends on how fertile you guys are. We took less than a month to get pregnant with both our girls, so be careful how much time you give yourself. Both times I went off the Ortho and within one menstrual cycle was pregnant. Good luck!
Everyone is different. I went off the pill and got pregnant immediately with my first. Went off the pill and it was 5 months before I got pregnant with my second.
If you don't want to get pregnant now, either keep taking the pill or go off the pill and use another form of birth control every time you have sex.
Talk to your OB/Gyn. My first OB recommended getting off the pill and then waiting (using condoms) at least 3 months or cycles, whichever occurred first (for me it was always months as I am completely irregular). My next OB (1st retired) recommended 2 months or cycles. So, I'd say you need to be off the pill 2-3 months, using condoms in the meantime, and once you're ready to start trying, go for it!
