On Toothpaste... Dumb but Important Question!!

I hate toothpaste. Its so gross! I keep trying different brands but its either just plain gross, or way too minty, or the texture wigs me out... what kind of toothpaste do you use that doesn't have a gritty/pasty texture, gets the job done, and leaves your breath smelling good?

What can I do next?

I like the Crest whitening with scope, no grit. It's pretty minty though.. and I like that.

The kids and my husband prefer Colgate, EW! THAT'S gritty!

I am in the same boat as you - I have decided to simply use bakinsoda and a mouthwash (biotine) paste to get it done. The biotene is not too bad - the baking soda is a touch grainy but OH MY the CLEAN and the whitening power I have found from said combination.
Rinse Mouth with Biotine
Mix in palm of CLEAN hand 1/2tsp baking soda and 1/2-1 tsp Biotene Mouth Rinse - you will find the consistancy you like.
Brush Gums, Roof tongue and all teeth well
Rinse again with a small amt of Biotene/Water mix OR a salt water rinse if your gums are bleeding/tender.

Aquafresh Extreme Clean isn't gritty but it doesn't taste the best.

I'm currently using the Crest ProHealth Night and it tastes good (a mild mint) but it is a bit gritty and it doesn't make my teeth feel as clean as the Aquafresh.

Tom's of Maine has a lot of non-mint flavors and the paste isn't gritty.

Tom's Cinnamon Clove is really tasty. Not too strong, like some of the mint ones. It is a paste, not a gel, so I'm not sure it will meet your texture criterion. It doesn't seem gritty to me, but I guess I'm not that sensitive to that.

well I used to like the gel, but when I got older I started gagging on it myself. So I switched to the good old white colgate paste. I really like it and it is not gritty to me either. I see someone else pointed out Pearl Drops. That was awesome as well, haven't looked for it in years. Hope you find one you like.

I like Sensodyne with whitening in it. It's not overly minty and its not gritty at all. And it helps my very sensitive teeth.

The only toothpaste I can handle is traditional Colgate mint paste -- the white kind. It's usually on the bottom shelf below all the crazy new toothpastes. Everything else foams up too much and I gag.

be sure to get GEL, not paste. I hate the gritty texture of paste. also, try sensodyne. it doesn't seem as toothpasty.

Have you tried going into your natural food store? I find that the commercial toothpastes taste far more nasty than natural ones.

Lately I've been using this Sunrider stuff my mom gets from her friend. It is one of those stupid pyramid marketing things, but the toothpaste is fabulous. Exactly what you are describing.

Try a kids' toothpaste. Seriously. Fruit flavors. No grit. I personally prefer gel to paste in any brand.

A million years ago, when I was a kid, I remember a toothpaste called "Pearl Drops." It was a liquid with a silky texture that cleaned your teeth well. I don't know if they still sell it, but maybe check around. My mom used to use it. Now she uses Sensodyne for sensitive teeth.

UPDATE: I found it online. Not sure if it's the same formula, but it's not gritty and is fresh tasting and mild.
