I've asked my daughters ped. many many times about something that im concerned with and he tells me its no big deal.. but deep down I have fears that it is. My daughters(she just turned 2 two weeks ago) right breast is extremly larger then the other one. Even the nipple is big. My doctor told me its not a big deal but he couldn't tell me why it was like that. Im really concerned. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? Am I over concerned?

What can I do next?

this happened to my daughter... it has something to do with the hormones being passed through the breastmilk... and its nothing to be concerned about from what i understand... it will go away... but i'm not an expert by anymeans... good luck

My 17 mos old daughter has a similar situation. Her left breast is slightly larger then the right and it increases and decreases in size. Her doctor told me that it was due to hormones. Usually it will level off a bit but as adults we still tend to have one breast bigger then the other. I wouldn't worry too much about it if the doctor isn't worried but if you feel you need more answers, get a second opinion. It won't hurt anything to know!

Hi,
My daughter just turned 2 in September and had one breast larger than the other. The nipple was larger and it felt like at least twice the size if not more than her other breast. I did take her to the doctors and he said it was a hormonal issue and it probably would go away and that we would watch it. My mother had the same problem and it lasted for her until she was into her late teens. My mom had told me stories that she was teased and how it made her feel. I shared this with the doctor and again he said that it most likely will go away and we will just watch it. My daughter went to the doctors this month and her breast and nipples were the same size. He said it may reoccur and if it did to call him.
I hope this helped. K. C

Have you gotten a second opinion? Are there other symptoms? Did your doctor do any tests? If you ate really concerned, never be afraid to get another opinion, or at least find someone who can tell you why.

well I would say go with your instincts. If you are not satisfied with what your pediatrician is telling you, ask for a referral to another doctor or perhaps asked your own gyno doctor he/she may know more about the female body than the pediatrician. It really may be nothing but at least you will know. I have heard of one breast (usually the one you write with and use more) is bigger though slightly than the other.
best of luck and let us know how you make out.

C.,

I have never experienced this but if it bothers you that bad that tell the doctor you would like a second opinion and you would like him to refer you to either another pediatrician or a specialist. Her doctor shouldn't have a problem with that and if he does I would look at a new doctor. hope this helps.
