How old are you?
Mid to late 30's you can start kissing your regular on schedule periods goodbye.
My peri menopause lasted just over 15 years.
A year ago Dec I finally made it a whole year with no periods to full menopause.
I'm so thriller to be done with it!
For a long time my periods were like normal, normal, skip, normal, normal, short, normal skip - and things got to a point where I was only having them a few times a year (which was a pain because the only warning I had that one was coming was my face would break out the day before).
The irregularities came months before my first hot flash / night sweat.
When you go for your test (and hopefully it's the answer you're hoping for), if you're not pregnant, have them test your hormone levels - they should be able to tell you if it's peri menopause so you have an idea of what's going on and can deal with it accordingly.
Additional:
Early 30's is a little unusual for peri menopause but it's not unheard of.
When you're done having kids, you're done having kids - no need to apologize for that.
If this is causing you a lot of stress (and stress can throw your period off too), no matter what the cause - maybe your husband should get a vasectomy so that you both are double sure that late/skipped/missed periods are not due to pregnancy.
