Hi! I am wondering if you can give some opinions on good schools in Texas? Preferably the West Houston area, North Houston area, Dallas area, and/or College Station/Brenham area.....I know, there are a lot of great ones. Of course academics is very important but I'd love to find a smaller school district that had wonderful parental involvement, great academics, with smaller class sizes.
Thanks so much!

I student taught in College Station and they have a fantastic program there. They offer opportunities that not all schools in TX do, such as bilingual k-12 curriculum that doesn't just teach English and Spanish, it teaches classes in both languages. Also, because it's close to Texas A&M, the education students are in the classroom and the University works with the district as well.
Coppell near Dallas is highly rated. We're in Keller outside Ft. Worth and are very happy here, Northwest ISD is near us and I hear great things about them as well.
I live in The Woodlands and our entire district, Conroe ISD, is rated Recognized which NEVER happens with High Schools in it (and we have either 4 or 5 of them). We're one of the few districts that isn't in the red financially either!!! Even with all the cut backs the feds and states are going to make, we'll be in GREAT shape!!!. I don't know about the size of classes any more in the elementary schools, but I think 30 is the max in HS. But with all the cut backs, I'm sure that number will vary...Most of the Elem. in The Woodlands are rated Exemplary - I love Knox as a Jr. High and College Park as the HS (just because we've got a more diversified social/economic "pool" - most of the apartments and HUD housing is zoned for CP/Knox/Collins is the Middle school). And our parental involvement in ALL 13 years is exceptional!! There's never empty spots on the PTA boards (although the fundraising one sometimes is the last to be filled tee hee) and the volunteer coordinator always has too many (at least at CP/Know/Collins).
