I would also recommend the Landmark (around $15 a person(maybe more...its been a while)); has an excellent pot roast and salad bar and a very relaxed setting...If you both like chinese the Abacus Inn (around $5-$10 a person) in Ahwatukee is also good; I enjoy their honey chicken when they still had it and their pu pu platter. It is a quiet more intimate setting than some of the big chain restaurants. Cheesecake factory (about $20-$30 a person) in Chandler has some of the best food (love their lettuce wraps, better than P.F. Changs (about $20-$30 a person) in my opinion), but very loud and raucus. I really like the Melting Pot (at least $90 for two plus tip) for special occaisons as it is very intimate with private booths and excellent food, but they are super expensive. Lastly, Tia Rosa's ($12-$17 a person) if you prefer Mexican, Fabulous food but go early to get a table (Val Vista and Mckellips just east on south side of road) (If you still want mexican but at a less visited restaurant Matta's ($10-$15 a person) opened a new not well known restaurant in Mesa Riverview that serves good food). As far as dancing goes....I hate it, so hopefully someone else can help you there :-)
Forgot to add one more....Vincitorino's (not sure if accurate spelling) Affordable Italian food for an intimate setting ($10-$15 per person). It is on the Southeast corner of Mclintock/Elliot in Tempe. If you are a vegetarian try the squash ravioli (excellent) if you are a meatitarian, like myself, they have an excellent cheesesteak and save room for dessert as they have some exotic icecreams (or gelatto...whatever its good) or canolis.
