Our OMG Moment of the Week.......

I just wanted to share our OMG moment of the week. We got rid of the pacifier this week!!!!! It was not what I planned. In fact, it wasn't planned. We got back from GM's house and couldn't find it. We all looked for several minutes and couldn't find it. So, we told our 23 month old that it was gone and couldn't find it. She said, "Boppy bye-bye. Boppy all gone." We said, "Yep!!! Boppy ALL GONE." She went to be without issue (SHOCKINGLY). She didn't nap yesterday (also due to detoxing from GM's) and cried for a bit last night at bedtime. Today she did cry at naptime, but it didn't last long.

BTW, I did find it the next morning and made it disappear forever. I found it in my older daughter's pillow case. I consider it divine intervention that we couldn't find it the night before, but I found it so quickly the next morning when I was making the bed. :)

Just thought I'd share our OMG moment of the week. :)

What was your OMG moment this week? Good or bad?

What can I do next?

Mine is kind of silly, but my daughter has been practicing for cheer tryouts for weeks now. A few days ago I was watching this dance show and a little girl did a double toe touch from a squatting position on the ground. It looked pretty cool and difficult. I was explaining it to me daughter and she goes " you mean like this?" and did it! Well it looked hard to me lol :)

Good. Two of them. Same night.
My son, 9, got to see his new baby cousin about 8 hours after he was born. This is the first new baby he's old enough to really appreciate.

#1. Upon entering the room and seeing the baby, his eyes got teary and he said "He's a miracle."

#2. As he was holding the baby for the first time on the couch in the hospital room, everyone was bustling about and I heard his voice very quietly singing "Happy Birthday" to his new cousin.

Doesn't get much sweeter than that!

I took my son (almost 7) out to lunch on Sunday - just the two of us.

All week this week every time I've asked him to do something, he's looked at me and said "ok Mom". I'm not sure if it is a change due to the weather (it's been perfect out here for March), his birthday coming up (and he's changing) or related to going out to lunch and some just Mom/Charlie time... but it's been fantastic! I'm going to add lunch with Charlie to my schedule monthly.... I should have done it a year ago..

My omg was the realization that my son is just like me! Haha. He has a doodle board that has a light on it for doodling in the dark. (it's great in the car) He was doodling with a friend and she was using the light despite it being daytime. He told her to turn it off and gave her this lecture about how she was wasting his electricity and that if she was going to waste his electricity she wasn't going to use it at all. It was like looking into a mirror. Glad to know my lectures about conserving energy are sinking in! Omg my little mini me!

So exciting to get rid of the paci...such a big step to being a big girl!!! :) Yay!

My OMG moment is more intense...my son turned 12 last week, as you know! ;) and it's like someone flipped a switch in him...he is still the same boy, but different. I'm finding that he actually liked a girl and even "asked her out" but she turned him down. And nope, he didn't tell me any of this...found out second hand and of course, by snooping! And he WILL NOT talk about anything personal. (when I do try, he just says, I don't wanna talk about this.) In fact, when I took him to basketball the other night, I was just standing there, by the coach and I looked over at my son and got the "what do you want? Go away!" look!!!!!! YIKES!

I'm not ready for this and definitely not used to boys...my daughter tells me things and talks about anything w/ me, so this is new! And scares me because what if he has bigger issues when he's older but doesn't come to us???? UGH!!!!!! I figure if I just keep talking, he is hopefully listening and knows we are here, right??? ;)

My OMG moment of the week is just the pure and simple fact of how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my kids. They bring so much joy and happiness and chaos to the house that I sometimes just can't stand how excited I get. Picture this: My two boys, my husband and myself are all sitting around their bedroom floor listening to my 5 year old read out loud. My little one was completely locked into the book big brother was reading and the love that they share was just so evident. I just love how much my boys love and they love hard just like me. We are all emotional wrecks sometimes and quite dramatic, but I wouldn't change a thing. I am so deeply blessed.

Hooray!

My son was like that when we got rid of his Binky.
But we did it on purpose.
But he adapted very well.
It only took him 2 days to get over it.

Congratulations on getting rid of the paci!

On Monday I went to Putt-Putt with my mom, my 14 year old son and one of his friends, and my almost 8 year old son. I talked to my youngest son about how he may not do as well as the rest of us because he is younger, and I didn't want him to get upset. We were there to have fun, and I didn't want him to be sad if he lost.

Well, I did all of that for nothing. Mom and I played a separate game behind the boys, and our scores were better than theirs (surprisingly!). However, my youngest son did much better than the two older boys! We were all surprised, though maybe we shouldn't have been. He goes to golf camp for a week each summer, and golfs on our property all the time. Our oldest isn't interested in golf at all. Still, it was great to see our youngest beat our oldest for a change. Everyone had a wonderful time, too! :)

My OMG moment of the week is just how big my kids. They are 6 and 4 and I swear they were babies yesterday. I am working extremely long hours right now and hardly see them so I know that is where the amazement factor is coming from, but I still can't believe it. They are becoming so self sufficient and they are doing amazing with understanding why mommy is not home very much right now. I have about a month left and then I can be mom again. I can't wait, but nervous too. I hope they still like me and want to spent time with me!
