Ovulating??? - Oxford,MI

I have gone to a lot of site that help predict when you ovulate. My question is how to answer when they ask for the first day of your last period. Sometimes I start but it's not a real flow. It's more like the brown blood (sorry, I know it sounds gross). Does that count? I'll have a few days of the brown stuff before it really starts. And those few days makes a big difference on predicting my ovulations.

We got pregnant so easy the first time around. This time it is taking us a lot longer!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for the great advice and help. I bought an ovulation kit and I am currently using it. And I have been using mycylce.com to keep track of my days.

And next time I see my doctor, I think I’ll mention the brown days.

Wish me luck!

I was lucky as my body told me when it was ovulating. I got pain in my ovary area . Like a strong aching, almost like a period and also a sharp pain when an egg escaped! Also, you know about the mucous discharge changing, right? It will be like a stretchy egg white and that's the most fertile time.

I would say the brown stuff counts as the start. Also, I wonder if your body is short on certain hormones...which might be why you have a strange start to your period. I used to have a lot of brown days at the end of my cycle and it turned out I wasn't producing enough progesterone to officially stop my cycle so it lingered on an extra 5 or 6 days.

Also...we use natural family planning...and my doctor had suggested I take vitamin B6 while trying to get pregnant...it's worked twice for me now. Also...mucinex can help you be "more fertile" during the time you are ovulating. Email me if you have any other questions about it. I absolutely love NFP and think it is awesome for getting pregnant...and avoiding it!

Yes it counts. The first sign of blood is day 1. I would also chart temps, that is a more accurate method to tell when you O.

I went to webmd.com. they have a pregnancy calculator... it worked PERFECT everytime for me. I think everyone's ovulation cycle is different according to their time and cycle. Put your dates in thei calendar and it should help narow it down for you.

Hi Lola,

My name is K. and I own Absolute Tan & Spa in Livonia. I also teach natural wellness classes in doctors offices, etc.

You start counting your cycle (day 1) from the first sign of bleeding regardless of the color. Different women ovulate at different times in their cycles. Personally I ovulate around day 8 and some others may not ovulate until day 20 or anything in between.

You may want to think about supplementing with natural progesterone. Because of your recent pregnancy, possibly breastfeeding?, stress of being a new mom, your body is probably producing very little progesterone on its own. Without it you will be unable to get pregnant. You need natural USP progesterone without any additives.

We have sold the Arbonne brand in my salon for almost 10 years and it has helped several women in your situation. It also helps with PMS issues. You can also find a brand at your local health food store but be sure you buy it in an air free pump and without any additives. Also be sure it is not wild yam but natural USP.

If you would like to call and talk about it, call me at my salon in Livonia ###-###-#### or email me at ____@____.com

You might want to check out the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility". It is an invaluable tool in learning more about your body and how it works. I've been charting my cycles for 8 months now....and it just amazes me how much I didn't know about my cycles!

Lola,

I had messed up cycles when I was first trying to get pregnant. I would go from 35-50 days between so I bought the ovulation sticks. Depending on how long between each cycle determins your ovualtion. So I would suggest buying a few boxes. I believe they come 7 in a box. I would start around day 13 and keep going until it shows you your peak time. This worked for me which I found out I started ovulating on day 16 not 13 which is what most woman start. If you can always push it back to around 10 day as well. So it's 10 or 13 days from the first day of your mentral cycle.

Best of luck!
P.

If you want to buy the ovulation kits, please check the dollar stores before you dump your money on the expensive ones. I bought some from the dollar store out of curosity and was able to get pregnant the first time around.
I now have 2 wonderful children.
