I love love love it. Tony is hilarious (the guy who leads it) I lost a ton of weight doing it. It is hard core but you feel so good when you are done with the work out.

My husband has been doing it since August. He only does the workouts, not the diet and has lost 12 pounds. He really seems to like it and is on the second set of DVDs. He is not always one to stick with things so I'm thinking it must be enjoyable if he's still doing it. He has some aches and pains leftover from his HS football days and seems to think the yoga portion of the workout helps with that.

100% WORTH IT!! If you're looking for a more feminine workout, Beach Body (the makers of P90X) brought on Chaleane Johnson, and she's put out Chaleane Extreme and Turbo Fire... really works your curves ;) There's also the Brazilian Butt Lift program, but that scares me ;) I really want to try it though. I never followed the diet, but the work outs are amazing. Good Luck! ALSO, they have free online support, people you can chat with if you think you're not doing something right, or have a question about something. HAVE FUN!!

It's worth the $ if your someone who sticks with things. Pretty hard core workout but good thing you can go at your own pace. It's an hour long workout 7 days a wk. Too much for me but if you enjoy variety in your workout maybe worth a try. Like having a personal trainer on t.v.

I am not sure how busy you are, but I have found that the jillian michaels 30 day shred and other dvds are great. (I have not tried P90X.) They are hard and you work out in 20 minutes. but it is a GREAT workout--I use them when I don't have time to go to the gym and need a work out while baby is napping.

100% WORTH THE $$$!!!
If you follow the program and dedicate the time, it works wonders.
I know several people that have used it (including a mom of 4 kids) and looked amazing on the other side of it.

I follow my own program that is similar to P90, so I've never spent the money on it. I'm looking to maintain, and not working for improvement. So what I do works for me. (thus, why I've never bought it). But if you're looking for a kick in your routine to take things up a notch, it's a great program.
Note: if you're not already a fitness person, I would not *start* with P90X.

my older son is getting ready to start it. i think it looks intimidating and terrific, but even with my more leisurely schedule these days, i really can't commit 90 minutes every day to working out.
that being said, today is my 90 minute day! i'd better rip myself away from mamapedia and get to sweatin'......

I love love love P90X! I'm in my second round of it. The first time I did the Classic one (there are 3 programs you can follow with one set of the DVDs...it's all outlined in the guidebook) and am now doing a modified version of the Lean since I'm also training for a 10K. I had a serious baby-fat problem before I started after the birth of my second child and I lost nearly 10 pounds on the program while putting on a really awesome set of muscles! I can even do a pullup now! I have about 10 more pounds to go.

Here are a couple disclaimers, however: It is harder for women to lose weight doing P90X than men. You will build muscle. You will look better. You will feel better. But you might not lose weight as fast a guy would. My husband is doing the program, too, and he very quickly started losing weight. It took me until after day 60 to start seeing movement on the scale. All my clothes fit better, but the scale wasn't moving. A personal trainer friend of mine (who is also a P90X addict) is the one who clued me into that phenomenon. She's had the program for 2 or 3 years and still uses it to supplement her other workouts.

Second, make sure you do not get a bootlegged version. DO NOT BUY IT ON EBAY. Anything on eBay that is less than if you were to buy it directly from Beachbody.com is a bootleg. There are typos and mistakes in the guides, the discs aren't reliable and you do not qualify for any assistance from Beachbody (the real maker of P90X). Plus, if you end up having a problem with the discs, you can't get any help from Beachbody's customer service. Finally, bootlegs are illegal. So, if you do buy one, you'd be aiding in someone committing a crime (and Beachbody is actively pursuing bootleggers). I didn't realize all this at first, bought a copy on eBay thinking it was the real-deal and ended up sending it back to the guy for a full refund because the discs skipped, I didn't want to be a part of bootlegging, nor did I want to take away from the company that put all the real work into the program. So, I ordered directly from Beachbody.com.

To make a long story short, it has been worth every penny!! I can't imagine my workouts without P90X. I have learned so much about fitness and proper movements from this program that I will take with me for a long time.

Good luck!

I LOVE it!! I am starting to feel like a spokesperson!! It is totally worth the money. It stimulates all of your muscles, and gets your butt in shape!! It now comes with 3 different programs you can follow. I do the lean program, which is more for weight loss, but my husband does the classic program, which is for strengthening and toning. Yes, it is kind of expensive, but try comparing it to gym memberships...3 months of gym memberships is all this costs!! It is also time consuming, at an average of an hour a day. But, realistically, if you really want to see results, you can't expect to walk/run on a treadmill for 15min a day and get results. The trainer in the program knows his stuff!!! It is always different too, so it always keeps me interested, whereas with regular videos, I get bored easily because it's so repetitive.
Hope this helps!!

I have it, but I haven't had the time to get into it yet. I did watch part of the first disc & tried to do the warmup... omg I couldn't get thru much of that LOL I'm sooooo out of shape!

My goal was/is to just follow as much of it as I could. Any amount and however often you do it should at least be helpful!

I did get one of those pullup bars for the doorway, so that I could (attempt to...) do the pullups too.

I REALLY need to start trying it again!

Haven't tried it, but my husband got a brand new still in the wrapper set off of craigslist for $60. He likes it, but he is in okay shape and it's kicking his butt. I'm not in shape at all, so I'm not even going to try it.

My husband is doing it right now. He is about 60 days into it. The results are amazing, but it is a big commitment - 90 minutes a day for 90 days (6 days a week). I can't wait until he is done so I can have my husband back! But I know he is very happy with it and highly recommends it. He also bought it on Craigslist for $40 brand new - look around before buying directly from the website!

I was considering this for myself a while back and did not purchase it due to the cost, but have heard good things about it. However, since I have not used it I can't comment on its' quality.

What I DID do was follow a book called 'You Are Your Own Gym' by Mark Lauren. He is a US military special operations physical trainer and all the exercises are done using your own bodyweight. He makes it easy to start the program no matter what level of fitness you are starting at. It is an amazing program. I used to work out a lot (15 years ago), and I'm seeing the same gains in strength as I did when I was doing weights 5 days a week and running 3-4 times a week. Best part is the book list for $18. He has a website you can look at too, its just marklauren.com. The only thing I change is that although he is very practical about using whatever is at hand when an exercise calls for some kind of weight that would intensify an movement, I use regular dumbells, it's just easier and I already have them.

Have fun and get fit,

Keith

I have owned it for 3 years. I am 43 and pretty fit (runner). I now use it periodically and do not do the 90 day program any more. I LOVE the program! It works well on developing muscles and being fun at the same time.
I did do the program when I first bought it and it really transforms you! I still use this 3 years later. I have my Fav workouts I do when I am not able to run (live in chicago too cold to run outside now) You get liike 12 workouts, so the cost is pretty equivelent to the cost of buying dvds at the store. I also have the brazil butt lift and love the sculpt and high and tight routines, but the rest are not the best. It is worth the $$. Good luck and be proud that you are taking the steps to improve your health! I have never heard somebody say after any workout that they regret doing it...

Love it! My hubby and I just started it about a week and half ago. After the first 6 days, he'd lost 5 lbs. and I lost 4.5 lbs. Make sure you have the time and motivation needed to stick to the work-outs (about one to one and a half hours, six days a week). We are following the meal plan as well, but a bit modified. (Following it to a "t" was a little overwhelming and expensive!). Good luck!

Hi D.,
Rest assured that P90X is more than worth it. It is alot of work but you will have fun doing it and will love the results. My daughter and son in law (both 30 yrs. old) are on their second round of it as are many of their friends and neighbors that started doing it when they saw the results they had.
As my husband and I are both much older we decided to do the Power90 which is the prequel to the P90x and we are on our second round of it and should next be ready to graduate up to the P90X. Tony Horton is a great trainer and will constantly tell you to go at your own pace so don't be intimidated. They now use P90X at military bases around the world.
I am pretty sure that there is a money back guarantee too.

It is great,. I did it last year and use it when to supplement my current routine. Any way, look for it on Craig's List. You can often find a used copy much cheaper than brand new.
