I bought my husband the P90X for Father's Day (per his request). It looked way too hard for me until I noticed there is a Lean version that is more for women. Have any of you worked with the P90X Lean version? Did you follow the it to a 'T'? Did you follow the diet to a 'T' also? What supplements, if any, did you use? I'm just looking for any advice/feedback so I am better prepared for what I am getting myself into.

A little about me: I need to lose about 8-10 lbs. I am getting the 'old lady' arms and my thighs and calves are starting to giggle. When I turned 40 I gained about 20 lb.s. I needed to gain about 10 lbs. but not 20. I'm short, so just one pound is noticeable on me. All of the women in my family are obese and I have their frame/build and could get there easily if I don't watch it. I'm turning 42 next month and I want get back into my old clothes and a swim suit and feel good about it.

Thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

I'm on my second day! It's hard, but I am liking it. Right now it hurts to cough, walk or just move for that matter, we'll see how I feel tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing the results. I like this guys' philosophy and how he directs the exercises. I bought 2 dresses today for when I reach my goal :)

It works but if I had "BALLS" I would say it is a "BALL BUSTER" For the first 2 wks you are going to feel every muscle in your body!! Even the one you never thought you had!!! If you stay on it, IT DOES GET BETTER!! I like to swear at the idiot on the video it seems to help. Because he and his posse make it look so easy. Which is Not true.
I don't really stick to the diet but I do the slim fast diet. I have been doing this for about a month and I have lost 10lbs and 2 dress sizes and I still have about 10 more to go. My hubby as lost more (DAMN IT) 35 lbs and 2 pants sizes. And more muscle mass. So Yes if you stick w/it, IT DOES WORK!!
SWEAR IT HELPS!

I tried it for about a week and realized I don't have an extra hour in the day to do it. Especially with a two year old in the house. But I have friends who swear by it. Good luck!

I'm doing P90X classic & it's awesome! I have only 4 weeks in the program to go & I've lost 19 lbs. I don't follow their nutrition plan, though. I follow Weight Watchers. It just fits with my lifestyle better. P90X will kick your butt, but it's so worth it. Stick with it & you will see amazing improvements in every area of your workout. I plan on doing Insanity after this installment of P90X & then starting all over again. Dedicate yourself to the program & you won't be sorry. Good luck! :)

Well, I'm getting ready to start it as well! I will be 41 this year (and also short ) and have noticed that these last 10 or so are really tough to get rid of at this age! I used to be able to diet a couple weeks, work out a little and be back where I needed to be...not anymore though. So my friend and I are getting ready to start the program together this week, kinda like a buddy plan to keep us accountable :) And I do plan on following the diet for as long as I can. If you'd like we could keep in touch to keep us all motivated! My friend is in her 30's still so I would like to know how someone more similar to me in age and body shape does on this plan! I'm excited to start. I fully expect it to be almost impossible so I'm just going to do the best I possibly can and try to continually improve. We are doing the original P90X but also the Lean version.

My major thing is having the buddy system. I love to play tennis, which I try to do 2x a week, but don't love to actually work out as much. I do go to 24Hour and Lifetime but not with the consistency I need. Now that it's summer I'm hoping my friend and I will be much more consistent working out at home together rather than dragging my kids to the dreaded gym!

Also, I haven't bought any of the supplements. Just going to stick with my regular vitamins. Wondering if I should buy some though???

Let me know if you want to keep in touch to compare our results and thoughts on this whole thing (or just to commiserate about our sore muscles!) My email is ____@____.com

Good Luck!
T.

I did the lean version about a year ago and saw great results. I am almost 48 now and found the program challenging. I am not a big fan of the Yoga CD because of the 1.5 hour time commitment so I found it hard to get thru the whole routine and would skip it. I did not follow the diet but I am not a bad eater and dropped 1 pant size and probably 7-8 lbs. I think if I followed the diet, I would have gotten to my goal weight, which was only 5 lbs more. Based on my lifestyle, I did not see the diet working for me so I opted to tweak my existing diet since the program is just 90 days. My opinion, we have to learn how to maintain our goal weight through diet and excercise.

The CDs are very convenient and I still use them to supplement my fitness regimine. I strongly recommend you to start and complete the program.

I love the P90X...it's tough and kicks your butt but i love every minute of it. The lean version you are referring to is the lay out. There are three versions...classic, doubles, and lean. The versions are made up of the same 12 dvd's it's the order that changes. It's tough at first but don't give up...it gets easier. I've been doing the classic version for almost 6mo and I'm very pleased with the results. I don't follow the nutrition plan but I probably should in order to shed the last 7lbs I want to lose....
