Pants That FIT!

I am so tired of pulling my pants up or my shirt down so that I stop mooning everyone. I can't find pants that fit! They slide down whether I wear tight pants, loose pants, jeans, stretchy pants, etc. I can't keep my pants up to stop embarrassing myself. I don't really have a body shape; no defined hips and not enough butt for pants to hold onto, but wearing a belt doesn't help so I think I'm just not finding the right pants.
Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to make it stop? Is there a store that sells a great kind of jeans or pants that could help me out? I a size 6 and I hate spending more than $20 on pants, but will do it if they fit.
Thanks!
P.S. I wear long shirts and that doesn't seem to help either; pants just slip down further!

What can I do next?

Layne Bryant has a wonderful brand of jeans for every figure and shape called "Right Fit". First time in my life I've had jeans that fit properly. Technically they're for larger women, but my daughter, who is not large in any way, loves them too. The first time you buy them you should go into the store, but after you know the right size, you can order them online without any trouble. No mooning the world.

I laughed when I read this, not because it's funny, but because I can totally relate! I have a butt, but most modern jeans just don't have enough coverage. I went on a mad shopping "no more crack" campaign last year, and I'll share what I've found. You don't mention what size woman you are or what your budget is, so I don't know whether all my recommendations will be helpful, but here goes.

If you are in the plus range (I straddle misses/plus, and thus can shop both), Lane Bryant has a great idea called Right Fit. Their jeans, which start at a 14W (which they've renamed size 1 - I'm not sure who they think they're fooling), come in 3 different cuts with different proportions for different shapes of woman, including the "I-have-no-waist-or-butt" shape. (Of course, they don't call it that.)

Lands' End now has three different cuts - modern (low waist - avoid), classic, and traditional. The traditional have a higher waist and may work better for you. These are available online or at Sears.

Eddie Bauer has a variety of different cuts, too. I find that natural fit or classic fit work best for me. They also have what they call their loose fit available online, with an above-the-waist waistline. I haven't tried them, because they also have a tapered leg, which is not a look that works on a woman of my shape. You might like them, though.

On the spendy end, there are the Not Your Daughter's jeans, available at department stores. They are very nice-looking jeans that define a waist and cover butts, but they do run $89 and up.

Happy hunting!

I haven't tried them but I've heard that Right Fit by Lane Bryant are supposed to have lots of options to get the right jean. I looked on their website and looked at them it looks like they run between $25 and $35 dollars.

I have found that the Old Navy jeans work for me. I get the classic rise, not the low rise. They come in a variety of leg shapes... flare, boot cut, skinny, etc. They also go from teeny sizes to plus sizes. You can find them on sale online quite often. In the stores I think they are about $30. But every once in a while they have an online sale for $12. You can get on their mailing list to be notified. Good luck! I know exactly what you are talking about!

I have found luck with Gaps long and lean. I am tall and have a problem w/ pants falling down and not finding long enough pants. you have to spend more... but it is worth it if you wear them out. Think... cost per use.

You are not alone - although we are definitely in the minority, as I struggle with the same problem. I don't really have hips or a butt to speak of, but I admit I was glad when the waists of pants came down, because I carry any and all extra weight there, and the high waist style was uncomfortable. Now, though I struggle with the falling down pants.

I have found some luck using belts, but they do still need to be pulled up more often than I'd like. I finally started spending more for jeans that fit - like $75 jeans from one of those jean store in the mall, but I love them so much that I wear them constantly, so it seems worth it to me. I told the sales lady my 'problem', and she had me try on a bunch and I was amazed at how many actually fit, and stayed up on me.

I have been in search of a belt with a little stretch in it with no success, since I find normal belts uncomfortable (especially, since I have to cinch them down so tight they dig into my hips). Someday, I hope to stumble on one like that.

My favorite brand of pants is easily Prana, which they have at REI or various places online. They are expensive too though, but there again I wear them constantly until they wear out (have a faded pair of cords on right now from 2 seasons ago). They run long and lean - not a lot of hip room. If you are short, they might be too long for you.

As for shirts, I know Gap has tall sizes that run longer in the torso (and sleeves). They more than cover my rump. Check for online sales/clearance. I don't think they sell the tall sizes in stores.

Sorry I can't help in the 'budget' price range, as I have not had ANY success there myself.
