I would love any recommendation for books or websites regarding all aspects of parenting in the second year (age 1 to 2). Recipes, discipline, nutrition, sleep...anything for "TODDLERS" that helped you I would appreciate hearing about. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Oh yea! I love to recommend books!

I am reading Raising Your Spirited Child by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka right now which I'm finding very interesting. Also, Playful Parenting by Lawrence Cohen is good. I LOVE I'm Two Years Old: Everything Your Two-Year-Old Wants You to Know About Parenting by Jerri Wolfe. Although it's more for older children, I still found very helpful: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk (How to Help Your Child) by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.

A good website that I like is: http://www.pedsforparents.com/
They have all kinds of articles written by doctors, nurses and the like on all different subjects. Also, http://www.momsminivan.com/ is great for all things related to car rides.

Don't forget to read some great books just for you that have nothing to do with raising your kids!! I just finished American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld - I quite enjoyed it.

Hope this helps a bit!

I SWEAR SWEAR SWEAR by "Raising a Happy, Unspoiled Child" by Burton White, PhD. It is out of print, but I find copies on eBay (every time a friend or relative has a baby, it is the gift I give).

My son is a DELIGHT--he is soooooo happy. The main thing about firm discipline is that your child is a HAPPIER child--I have a dear friend who wouldn't read it--and now her 3 yr old is a sullen tyrant--after a year of 2yr old tantrums, so bad he'd throw up and bang his head. He is just an unhappy kid. We have NEVER had a tantrum, and my son is a sunny delight. He loves going to the grocery store, the post office etc. BECAUSE HE KNOWS HOW HE IS SUPPOSED TO ACT!

I can't say enough good things about the White book. GET IT!!!

Hey S.,
Other than this website that is wonderful, the best resource I have is the mom's club that I'm in. It's the Mom's Club of MOnroeville, www.geocities.com/monroevillemoms, which is a member of the International Mom's Club, www.momsclub.org .
It's a great way for moms to connect, spend time and have fun. The best part is that children of all ages are welcome at all events. If you're interested read about it on these sights and then email me, I'm the VP and I'll get you a calendar of events so you can try some of them out and see what you think.
Good luck!
A.
