I have not heard about that book, but I also have two boys and just started reading the book- Bringing up Boys by James Dobson- seems good so far.
Have any of you read the book Parents & Power Struggles or Raising a Spirited Child? What were your thoughts? Was it worth the purchase? Did it help your family?

I've read Raising Your Spirited Child, LOVED it! I started to read the Power Struggles one, but it was very similar to the other that I did not finish it. I got both at my library. It did really help me to understand my introverted spirited dd and see the similarities between her and my dh who is the exact same. I've learned about myself and how to better our family.
Another books I highly recommend are "Unconditional Parenting" by Alfie Kohn, and "Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves" by Naomi Aldort. The next book on my list to read is "Buddhism for Mothers", hope I get it for Christmas :)
We bought this book upon our son entering the terrible two's. We LOVE it. It has really helped us, and we have found ways to identify meltdowns before they happen, and almost eliminate them! Amanda P.'s Response really sums up the book very well.
I didn't read it but my neigbhor did b/c of her daugher. She raves about it. She said she understands so many things about her daugther now that before would really frustrate her. Now she knows how to handle her and she said it's made a huge difference.
I went looking for the Raising your spirited Child book, didn't find it, and ended up buying the Parent's and Power Struggle book. I must say, in dealing with my 5 year old, whom I definately struggle with, it has given me some good advice and ideas as to how to end the struggles. It kind of gives you another way to look at things, other than just getting mad and yelling, which is what I tend to do. The author has classes that she teaches, and while changing the names, uses those parents as some examples of different parenting styles and how to better mange situations they were in. I can relate to alot of the parents she refers to, and seeing it in someone else, has helped me recognize it in myself and change my reactions to my child.
I didn't read either book, but I have started reading Making children mind without losing yours, by Kevin Leman.
It's really good. He's a great author!
