Hi there! My mom is 48 years old. When she was 8 years old her dad died. She has been talking a lot lately about pictures that she has of him and her together (they were very close). I wanted to do something special with them, however, I want to stay away from the traditional scrapbook or "put them in a frame" because she already has those. Does anyone have any creative ideas? I know it would mean so much to my mom and I really am at a loss for ideas.

I also love the idea of a photo quilt. They really are beautiful. My mom is a quilter and we have seen examples done in a sepia tone on a very rustic natural colored cotton....can be a wall hanging which she could easily display and enjoy every day. You could lay it out as a collage of photos of her dad and her as a girl.....
some one was talking to me about a photo quilt. I didn't check into it but there are probably a couple of ways to do it. Either transfer the pictuer to fabric and have the quilt made to your specifications by a quilter. Or i bet snapfish.com or any of the digital photo processing sites might have something where they do it all for you.
I remember seeing throws at the photo center at Wegmans if you are near on of those. They could also put the photo on a canvas like an oil painting.

What about creating a cd? Arrange the photos into a slide show and put them to music.
There are so many great things to do with pictures. What is your mom's interest? If she likes computers, make her a mouse pad with the picture and add a saying. Tote bags, wooden clocks, book ends, kitchen accessories, bumper stickers all at zazzle.com they have everything from a garden stool with pictures on it to skateboards. Goood Luck!
