OK, this might be a silly question, but when I am pregnant, I cook... I have been making pies, and was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to roll out the pie dough and then freeze it. I guess I want to freeze it flat in plastic wrap. Does anyone know if this works? Thanks!

You need to freeze the crusts individually between sheets of wax paper, so they don't stick.

Happy baking!

Hi E.,
I have never tried it, but I think it would work just fine. I suppose it depends on how long it would be frozen and if it is in a deep freezer or regular frige/freezer. If you are going to freeze it for a long time, I'd recommend wrapping it quite heavily in plastic wrap. I have had success wit freezing already baked pie crusts. These were actually mini-tarts and I just put them in a Tupperware container and stuck them in the deep freezer. I think it was about a month before I used them, but they thawed great and were just as flaky as it I had just baked them. Hope this helps!

You sound like me... I was famous for making cheesecakes at midnight when I was pregnant! I'm not sure if you can roll it out and freeze it, but I do know you can freeze the roll of dough (as a ball), and then thaw it out before you are ready to roll it out!

I freeze pie crusts all the time! After making the crust, I place them in a tin foil pan then wrap them in saran wrap then place them in freezer baggies. For the top crusts, I just wrap in saran then place in freezer baggies. Works every time!

Good Luck and God's Blessings

I second the advice on plastic wrap. You might even want to double-layer it with parchment paper (that first, then the plastic wrap).
