Growing out of the toys and want to be creative in an idea for my 8 and 11 year old. Any ideas with this space ? TV and video games are not an intrest for these kids.

What can I do next?

They make awesome paint that dries like a chalkboard.
You could frame it with molding and have a large chalk art area.
I've also seen people hang sheet metal so kids can hang artwork with magnets.
What about a couple of easels for painting?

There are lots of great things you can do.

Have fun!

My kids' playroom, which is really just our downstairs family Room, has drums, lots of guitars, foosball table, dart board, train table, basketball hoop mounted on one wall (for the nerf basketballs, ya know, soft foam), mini fridge, etc., etc.,...plus lots of electronics...

I have always wanted to do one whole wall in the chalkboard or whiteboard where they could scribble everywhere, I think that is so cool!

We have comfy furniture and big pillows for the floor for sitting on...

I love it down there and so do the kids!

My kids ages are 19, 16, 15, 11, 7,5 &3

Here's what we did in our family room which is mostly open without alot of furniture so we can use it for different purposes. We have storage cabinets with books, games puzzles, and bins with art supplies. Alot of the art supplies are recycled materials. My boys like to sit on the floor so I found 2 large fuf chairs from walmart.com. They are like bean bag chairs but filled with shredded foam. They are great for curling up with a good book. There are maps pinned up on the wall, a bulletin board, and sometimes I set up a long folding table for puzzles and art projects.

I'm with ya. We're in that "transition" period... and it's a little wonky

Our "formal " living room has a large armoire filled with games and craft supplies. And we also have pets there too...guinea pigs, fish tank and tree frog terarium. We transformed our spare bedroom into a craft room for sewing and beading, etc with a nice futon in there. You could also use the space for laptops and make it a study area. I guess it depends on the interests of your kids.

There was a Mamapedia Sweet Deal on here just a day or so ago for making lifesized sticky decals from your photos. Do you have some family photos of vacations or favorite spots, pets, or sports?

Make the space a library, crafting/project, science area?

Ask the kids!
