Ok moms! I need help! My 4 year old has had a VERY stressful past few months. 3 things have happened that have totally changed him. I had twins 6 months ago, and I was on bedrest for 3 months prior to the birth. So everything surrounding that was not much fun. WHen a new baby comes home it is stressful on the older child, and when it is 2 babies it is tough!! Then his older cousin molested him. Then when my twins were 8 weeks old my husband left us. He decided that he didn't want to be a husband or a fulltime father anymore! I have been trying to deal with this in the best way possible, but it is becoming more realistic that he is going to need some play therapy. The problem is that I have NO CLUE where to start! Where do you find play therapy or child therapists? HELP!!!

What can I do next?

Please, let me say first that I am so sorry to hear about what you and Brayden have gone thru the past year!! Second, I would HIGHLY encourage you to find a QUALIFIED child/play therapist thru your church. If your church doesn't have one on staff, hopefully they can help you find one, as well as help you with the costs. Third, when you do find a therapist, keep pushing your insurance to pay for additional visits (beyond the usual 20/year). And lastly, KEEP WORKING~ We may be on different teams, but we're with the same company, so DON'T GIVE UP!!!! If you haven't already, buy Brayden some of that WONDERFUL New BUBBLE BATH that just came out!! It smells yummy!!!

If you find yourself just having a "break down moment", don't hesitate to pick up the phone and call me. My # is ###-###-####.

You're in my Prayers!!

The University of North Texas may have some options - http://www.coe.unt.edu/cpt/
Good luck - I'm sorry to hear that you and your family have had some rough times, and especially saddened to hear what happened with his cousin.

I think calling UNT is a great idea also call UTA. Have you checked with your church? They will probably have someone who can help you and also your son. If not then at least they can point you in the right direction. If you do have health insurance call the mental health number usually located on the back of your I.D. card. They will give a you list of places to contact that are covered under your plan. I am truly sorry to hear what has happended and I will be keeping your family in my prayers.

Your pediatrician can be a good resource. You might call and ask them. I've used mine for all sorts of referals.

I wish you and your family the best.

Do you have health insurance? If you do start with them. They might have some therapists that are covered under your health plan. If no insurance message me, I have to ask my mother but her best friend's daughter is a play therapist and I could get her number for you if you would like. The ask your physciian is a good idea too.
