Hi Moms,

I am in the market for a portable highchair for when we go out to see Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents. My daughter is 10 1/2 months and about 17lbs. Any suggestions, likes or dislikes??? I have the bebepod, but she is outgrowing it and likes to paint the floors with her food as I won't put her on a table in it as she can almost knock it over with her weight. Any help would be much apprecaited!!

What can I do next?

We bought one at Ikea, believe it or not, and to our surprise it's really great. It was only $20 and it's compact which is what we loved best about it. It's called the Antilop. And it's really easy to disassemble. It's was a great find. My parents keep it at their house and they don't mind because it doesn't take up that much room. Good luck! ; )

Fisher Price has a great plastic booster seat with an attached tray. Inexpensive, too! It straps to most chairs, and is very easy to clean! I actually just replaced our high chair with it permanently, because it's so much easier.

I bought the most fantastic portable high chair ever. My husband and I took our 2 kids to Seattle this past summer and I needed something light and portable to take on the plane for my littlest guy. I found at walmart.com a booster seat that folds almost flat and zips up made by Safety 1st. It fit in my suitcase. There is a small valve that inflates it in seconds when you set it up. It also takes about 2 seconds to fold back up. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! It cost about $19.00.

I told 3 other fiends about it and they also got it and love it. I now keep it in the trunk of my car. By the way, it only weighs about 2 pounds. Eddie Bauer also makes a similar one that I saw for sale in BJ's and the price was the same.

We have 2 fisher price portable chairs with trays, that we keep at my mom's in Kentucky. They convert to a booster as necessary, which is nice. At home we use a hippo clip-on-to-table chair that we bought at Babies R Us ($40 or $50). It hangs on the table. We love this chair. We take it on trips and it's good to 40 pounds. You'll just want to be careful about attaching it to a rickety table - I suppose a 35 pounder could shake and rattle a lightweight or broken table over. But we've never had a problem with either of our kids using this chair. We hose it off in the shower after a trip.

We have the Fisher Price booster seat with a tray (the Rainforest one). It's great. It straps to any chair and is really easy to take off and bring with you to someone's house or to a restaurant.

I have something made by the Learning Curve which I bought in babies r us - it was about 30 dollars, and I started using it with my daughter when she was about 7 months. As a matter of fact, i dont really have room for a full high chair in my apartment so I have been using it exclusively for about 6 months and it works great!

Try Phil and Ted's portable booster!
It's called the ME TOO. Comes in a flat pizza type box and weighs 2 lbs. So easy to pack up and travel. Since it attaches directly to the table, your child can't push off the table with her feet and fall backward. Around $50. so a little more pricey but worth it!
