Portrait Studios near Sterling Heights

Has anyone tried Portrait Scene on Hall Road next to the Learning Store? I have been using Kiddie Kandids and really like them, but I am looking for a place with an actual waiting area. Also, I had thought about Portrait Innovations, but in all the samples on their website the backgrounds are either white, brown, or black. I was hoping for a place with some really nice backgrounds/props. (We have done the white background too many times already!) The samples on the Portrait Scenes website look really nice, but that's not always an indication of what you actually get!

I don't want to spend a lot either. I'm looking for something in the Kiddie Kandids/Portrait Innovations price range.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So many of you insisted that I give Portrait Innovations a try for my children's pictures that I decided to comply. Thanks for the advice. I loved the atmosphere and the professionalism of the staff. The pictures turned out great. But, get a load of this... even though I loved the Spring background, due to technical difficulties with their equipment my kids got a little uncooperative at the end, and I ended up choosing to buy the pictures with black and white backgrounds - exactly what I wanted to avoid! Oh well, at least I found a good place and next time the new backgrounds will work out. (By the way, they were very accomodating and knocked $20 off the price due to the technical problems.)

Hi A.,

Please try Portrait Innovations!! Great prices, great props and they do have more backgrounds than what's on their site. Plus if you can do the $9.95 package, no sitting fee, etc, it's worth a try. I checked out Portrait Scene, but they are crazy priced in my opinion, I'd rather hire a regular photographer for their prices. I also know someone who does it out of her home that is awesome if your interested, email me off list. She's doing my step-daughters wedding and does location shoots also, home, park, etc...

Good Luck!

Portrait innovations has tons of backdrops and colors. They aren't all on the website. We love the pictures they do for us.

I know of a real nice lady that does some great stuff out of her home (mom owned business). Her name is Regan and you can see some of her stuff at fototales.com
She's close, and has reasonable rates, and also does cool stuff with your pictures (storyboards, etc.)
Her number is ###-###-####, you can also contact her through her website.

Check out Smphoto.org The company is Special Moments Photography. She runs the studio out of her home in Rochester Hills and it is great. She has lots of ideas, props, and her prices are awesome. The whole experience is so much calmer and more fun than a regular studio.

Hi A.,

No, I have not tried Portrait Scene, but I have gone to Portrait Innovations. Don't let their website fool you. They have plenty of backgrounds and props. They are very good with the children AND parents. Just make sure you communicate with them if you don't like what they are doing. I learned with them, that they usually just choose the background, but are very open if you want others. I have done the Kiddie Kandids for years and don't plan on going back because its the same old same old pictures.

There is a new studio at 16 and Garfield called Keepsake Portrait Studio! I took my daughter there and the photographer was excellent; very patient and talented. At Portrait Innovations~ it's the same poses.
