Possible Two Year Molars

Has anyone had any experience with two year molara? My 2.5 year old daughter has been running a fever between 99 and 101 since Wednesday evening. She has had a constant runny nose (clear), and a cough. Her cheeks are bright red and I have been giving her tylenol. I have not brought her to the doctors because her runny nose is clear and not green or yellow and I am pretty sure its her teeth trying to break through. She has been crying alot because she is feeling so bad and only wants to lay on the couch. Of course she is also having difficulties sleeping because of the nasal drainage. Does anyone know how long it could take for her teeth to break through and her fever to break? Just trying to get a idea if other people have had this experience with their child.
Thanks so much for any insight or advice.

So What Happened?

I would just like to thank all you mamas out there for your time and offering your insight! I know that every child is different and doesnt always have the same reactions to things, and also that teething actually can cause a low grade fever which is what my daughter had. It is not always the cause but is a possibilty. I do know this from speaking with professionals. It is not likely that teething would cause a hgih grade fever. I am happy to report that my daughter has perked up tremendously today! She woke up with no fever at all and has been eating and playing better today. She does have a little bit of a runny nose but not bad at all. Thanks again mamas for your expertise!

My daughter is 26 months and had similar issues--runny nose, sticking her hands in her mouth, drooling, fussy, not sure about a fever lately but I've seen that happen in the past with both of mine. I've been giving her Hylands tablets since she has been spitting out tylenol lately. My daughter likes to chew or suck on a wet washcloth so I may try a frozen one.

Have you stuck your finger in there to see if you can feel them? It should probably only take a week or so, but sometimes they move up and down, which is annoying for all parties! She could just have an infection of some sort. I would wait another few days and if she doesn't change, maybe call the doctor. When my daughter's molars came in she slept a lot, did have some yucky poops, felt a bit under the weather but wasn't bed ridden.

My kids NEVER got like that when getting molars.

I would take her to the Doctor.

Teething does not cause fevers, infections do. Call your doctor.

Both of my twins were like this for about a month, but the fever lasted about four days. They are almost two and a half, and their molars just finally broke through about two weeks ago, which was just a few days after the fever started. The runny noses have stopped and all of their teeth are almost all the way in now. Poor kiddo! Hopefully she'll be through it soon. We have been giving lots of tylenol because they're shoving their entire hands in their mouth.

It can be rough for some kids - could definitely be teeth and I agree low fever and no yellow - no Dr. I would try motrin as I think it works much better - you can even alternate the two every 4 hrs.. Just try to keep her comfy. I would try to see if her mouth it where it hurts - be careful, they do bite!! It can last bit so hope the motrin helps a little. The drip may be giving her a bit of a sore throat so you cant try some honey to soothe it. Also some cold foods - jello etc... hang in there. My daughter struggled with the first one that came it and then I didn't even notice the others until they were in and we were at the dentist.
