I had my Mirena removed on 10/30/09 after having it in for 4 years. Ever since then, my body has not been the same. I am constantly bloated, my breasts have gotten bigger, I have put on about 5 pounds and I have been working out like crazy and am not seeing any results. I am 31 years old and they say your metabolism slows down after 30, so I'm not sure if that is whats happening or if my hormones are all screwed up due to the Mirena being removed. (I am not currently on any other birth control and am NOT pregnant!) I was wondering if anyone else had problems after Mirena removal or how long it took them to feel themselves again. I'm feeling very frustrated!

What can I do next?

I took my out probably 2 weeks before you. I have gained a lot of weight but I never thought it could be related to the mirena till now!! My breast are the same but sometimes they are sore for no reason. Also my periods are getting worse and worse. I never had cramps, back aches or sore breast but now I have them. I can't wait to get pregnant though and I will probably get back on the Mirena b/c I had no problems while on it!

I think it is age. I'm 34 now and I just keep getting fatter and fatter. I did lose weight when I went an entire month with no McD and TacoBell, and worked out vigourously for one hour 3 times a week. As soon as I stopped though it came back. No fun getting old and fat :(

Wow, this is what happens to me when I go on the pill. It sounds like hormones all messed up and constant pms. It's only been 3 months, so I would definitely wait it out a little longer. Your body is getting used to what your own hormone levels should be. Did you talk to your ob about it? From my experience, OBs don't really talk to you or know a lot about side effects of birth control or going off of them, though. You'll probably find and hear more from other moms on here. Hope you get the answers you need that you get better soon.

Every women's body is different. Be patient because getting frustrated is
not the answer. You should speak with your doctor on the proper diet for
you and excerises. You may not be doing the right things.
