Potty Training - False Alarm Pattern

My 2 1/2 year old has been potty trained for about 2 months now. Problem is, she keeps telling us that she has to go potty, and then when we take her, she doesn't go. She will do this for about 4-5 times, before she actually pee pees. It is very frusterating, and she is doing this in daycare as well, which is difficult for the teacher. Any ideas on how to break this pattern?

What can I do next?

Though it may seem frustrating, the alternative is worse... which would be her NOT saying she has to go and then just having an accident. She is still getting used to what it feels like to have the urge to go and having the muscle control to hold it in and then let it go when she's on the potty. My bigger concern is that her teacher is getting frustrated. She should be more patient with a 2 year old. She should also be teaching her to go independently, so it shouldn't matter to her if your daughter goes several times to the potty if she is just doing it on her own anyway.

She may actually feel like she has to go. I have time swhen I feel like I have to go and then get there and can't. If you discourage her she may just start wetting her panties again. She should out grow this.

make sure she doesn't have a bladder infection....that can make her feel like she has to "go", when she actually doesn't.

Leave her sitting on the toilet until she does pee. Tell her, "Mommy has to go get something," and then disappear. Talk to her from the other room and tell her you'll still come back, that you are trying to find something. When after say, 5 minutes or so has passed, go back to the bathroom to "check on her." Make sure she has peed. If she has NOT, then again, tell her to go pee while you go looking for something else. Keep doing this until she finally pees. I had to do this with my children from time to time. It doesn't sound like a "false alarm" thing. She most likely has to go, but is getting anxious when it comes time to really doing it. In time, she'll get more and more comfortable.
