Preschools in Naperville

My son is 3 1/2 and we're interested in trying out preschool if we can get in one this late. Any recommendations in the Naperville area? Our son is not very good at structured activities yet, so a play-based school would be great. We've only lived here for a couple of months, so I have no idea where to start. Thanks.

Hi Amanda,

If you are okay with a Christian based preschool there is an awesome program at Good Sheperd in Naperville off of 75th Street. My son went there last year and it was a very positive experience. It is a play-based programm with a wonderful staff. I highly recommend the school and teachers. I know for a fact that there are afternoon openings because I spoke to the director just a few days ago. There may be a few a.m. but not positive.

PACES a local mothers group puts out a great preschool guide. I know for sure you can buy it at Anderson's Bookstore which is on Jefferson St downtown and Language Stars which is in the Gartner Plaza shopping center next to Casey's(at Washington and Gartner a few miles south of downtown). It lists most of the preschools/rates/philosophy etc. You would probably have the best luck finding an afternoon slot if that is an option. My son is starting at Peter Pan this week. They have a location at 75th St and on Oleson Rd.

Hi,
I am a certified Montessori teacher. I run a Montessori program for children ages 2 to 6 from my home. Montessori is child friendly program. It is based on the philosophy to give a child freedom of choice to pick an activity and work on it with his own pace.I work with small group of children to give them individual attention.
Children learn how to organize themselves, socialization, respect for others, sharing etc while they play with their friends.I have openings right now.You have a choice to send him full day or just few hours a day.References are available upon request.I am located near fox valley mall.Call me at ###-###-#### to schedule an appointment for you.

Try your communtity center. The community center on Eola has a wonderful Creative Playschool. I am not sure about ages, but they must be fully potty trained. I was able to get in late (same sort of circumstances as you). They do a lottery very early on in the year, and then if they still have spots you can get in. Good luck!

In my neighborhood, I've heard great things from many other parents about the School Readiness Center preschool located on 430 S. River Road, Naperville. My son took a class there and he warmed up very quickly to them. I believe they can add more children to their fall program still. Amy Folliard is the Director. ###-###-####.
