Preschools in Saratoga, West San Jose, Campbell Area?

DeAnza has a great preschool in that area. We currently have one son in Campbell CDC, it is right by the Pruneyard in Campbell and I love the place more each day. Our older son was sad to leave and still loves visiting. The director, Ellen Daniels, is terrific and I learn about education and parenting daily from she and her staff. I am a pretty tough customer, working in education and having seen 30+ preschools in the area through my work.

I don't have any preschools to recommend, but I saw on your list that you mentioned there are some issues with speech delay. If you haven't already been in contact with your local school district, you should contact them in the next few months. Public schools can provide services like speech therapy for children as young a 3 years old. The evaluation/intake process can take a few months, but it is worth it if your child needs some additional help.

We started our kids (1 and 2 years old at the time) at an in-home Montessori daycare/school on Camden Avenue and I HIGHLY recommend it. My son just started Kindergarten and he is learning less that he did at this daycare/preschool.

- My son was there for 3 years and my daughter is currently on her 4th year.
- I like that she treats the kids like capable human beings able to contribute and help themselves and others.
- I wish she offered weekend and evening care :)
- My son graduated and my daughter is still there.

She only offers full day programs but you can just go 2 days/week. The kids take naps and she cooks lunch and supplies all snacks and drinks. Parent's whose kids are picky eaters are amazed at how easily their kids eat everything she offers them.

I was extremely happy with Action Day/Primary Plus in both their Lincoln and Moorepark locations. (My daughter did infant care at Lincoln, but the preschool director forgot to leave a slot open for her at 2 {no wonder she isn't there any longer} so we needed to shift to Moorepark for the capacity issue.)
My daughter graduated out and I lost my job so we couldn't afford to send her to their private elementary school.

My daughter still talks about trying to find a time to go back and visit - and she is 8!

At the time I was uncomfortable with the director's suggestion to put her in Pre-K when she was 4 (we were approached at 3) even if apparently the teachers recommended her for the program. I wasn't crazy about spending more money and she seemed so little to do kinder paperwork. When she graduated my mom was upset at the "hard sell" for their private school and the comments she was going to be bored in public school. (Time has totally proven those comments out. My daughter was gifted and the public school missed it.... it's been a problem.)

I don't think the yard at Lincoln preschool side is as nice as the fantastic Moorepark one, so I know the facilities really vary by location. And I am sure staff varies by location, but we were so happy with the program I strongly suggest they are worth looking at. (They have a bunch of different locations on that side of town.)

I second the recommendation for Campbell CDC. Before opening my own program, I was a preschool teacher at Campbell CDC. Ellen is a truly caring person and knows what's best for young children.

We did Saint Elizabeth's Day Home in San Jose for both of our girls from 2005 - 2010. I'm not thrilled with the current director, but LOVED the teachers. They take kids as soon as they're able to walk. It's not cheap, but it's a beautiful facility, and again, many of the teachers are fabulous. At least check it out and see what you think. Insist on meeting with the teachers of the room you'd be in. Also check to see if they've got a part-time program. It's been on again off again over the years.
