What does so far so good mean? Have your symptoms improved? I hope so!! :-)
Did Splenda pay a factor at all?
I posted a question a week or 2 ago re: my 5 year "battle" with diarrhea. I have now started the probiotic. So far, so good. My question now is, I am scheduled to see the GI doctor this week; will the probiotic "mask" anything if I have further testing done? I am wondering if perhaps previous potential food poisoning and/or several stomach viruses just left my system "out of whack", hence the need to "reset" with the probiotic. I researched (briefly) many of the other things that were suggested in the responses and most of them really don't match my symptoms (ie, until recently I did not ever really have pain, the diarrhea was usually 1 or 2 a day not 5-10+, etc). Thanks in advance to anyone who can follow up.

Your GI doctor is the best one to answer your questions. I would keep up with the probiotic and just be sure to tell the doctor what you're taking and how long it has been. If she/he does a stool sample and/or colonoscopy, she/he will be able to see what's going on, rather than just rely on inconsistent symptoms.
Good luck!
Probiotics are very healthy. Most people should probably be taking them daily. They are healing your intestinal track so it won't mask anything. Most of our immune system issues start in the gut, so keep it healthy! Just curious, did your problem start suddenly? Was it after taking a round of antibiotics?
Good for you for starting on a probiotic.
Was it liquid when you went 1-2x a day? We should all be going about 3x day (but not liquid)... like babies and dogs - bulk in, bulk out. ;)
Let us know how things go with the doc! Best wishes to you!
My son was on a probiotic for almost 2 years due to stomach issues/loose stools. Anyways we finally saw a GI doctor (Ryan sees so many doctors due to many medical problems) and we told the GI doctor that we were taking a probiotic to help with the stomach problems and he was fine with that we were still able to do all the tests that they needed to do (I don't know about the stool test since we didn't do that one). We ended up finding out that Ryan has silent reflux (none of the classic symptoms of it) and lactose intolerance - I was more worried about him have celiac disease but they a biopsy of his stomach/intestines (through and endoscope) and the celiac came back negative (even though the blood tests kind of were borderline on it).
