Culterelle.
I give it to my toddler (Culterelle has one for little ones as well) when he is on antibiotics.Works well.
My doctor suggested that I start taking a probiotic. Does anyone have any experience with these or know much about them? I don't know anyone who takes them. I didn't find a lot on the internet. Thank you so much!

best of luck to you
I was experiencing what a GI specialist thought (after MANY tests) was a 'touch' of IBS. He recommended probitiocs. He said any would do but "Align is the best". Of course they seem to be the most expensive too. Align did have a money back guarantee so I took a chance figuring I'd be turning in that receipt. The box I bought was a 7 week course and by week 7 everything was back to normal. I NEVER imagined I'd be able to say that! So if you are having a problem, yes I would recommend them and yes I would recommend the Align brand.
Probiotics are found in yougart Greek is better a larger number. I am sure if you eat 3 yougarts a day you would be fine. You also can get at either whole food fruit market or kroger Kefier milk wich is not only good for probiotics but also makes smoothies taste real yummy. If you can't stand these than you need the supplement and the directionis on the back of the bottle.
I like Culturelle . . . I get it at Whole Foods (have to keep it in the fridge).
When I consider probiotics I also consider anything we are sensitive to and try to make sure we avoid that.
Good luck!
I use New Chapter Organics. I find it in the refrigerated supplements section of my local health food store/organic market. If you're not good about remembering to take pills you can purchase some kombucha drinks or grass-fed whole, plain yogurt (mix it withe something, if you like, and eat everyday). THey naturally contain probiotics.
They are wonderful! Be sure to choose one that is easy. Many sold in health food stores have to be refrigerated or are dry. You want the "good" bacteria in your probiotic to reach your stomach ALIVE for it to benefit you. I don't see how a powder could do that.
All our stomachs have bacteria. You want the "good" bacteria to flourish and not have too much of the negative stuff. Probiotic introduces good bacteria. There are also prebiotics. Prebiotics are food that help the probiotics flourish.
A healthy gut does many things. Help with "stomach" issues, but also increases immunity. You can't go wrong with a probiotic.
If I can make a recommendation or answer any questions send me a message. I can't put a link here.
A pretty easy source of probiotics is drinking Kefir. You can probably find it in your store's organic area. It's like a yogurty drink. It costs close to $4/bottle here in MN so it can get pricey.
Go to www.drandrewweil.com and put the term "priobiotics" in the search box. He is an MD that leads the integrative medicine program at the University of Arizona. I usually follow advice he gives and he will recommend a specific type of probiotic. I got a strong one at Whole Foods. Hope that helps!
