I have been taking Probiotics for years and absolutely love the Florify brand. They are very effective, we feel great, and they are AFFORDABLE. I used to buy my probiotics at Whole Foods and tried a few different brands before I started taking Florify. And we all take them, including my little ones (for the girls I just open the capsule and dump it in a small glass of juice or milk or pour on a spoonful of applesauce). My girls have been getting probiotics this way since they stopped breastfeeding.

Florastor or Culturelle if they go on antibiotics, otherwise yoghurt, kefir everyday.

My boys take a daily acidophilus probiotic, they take a chewable wafer that I can find locally, or one called 'yum yum dophilus' online. I can find the chewable wafers at the grocery store, Wal Mart, health food stores, etc.

Also. in reference to 'ask your doctor' which is good advice, probiotics are good for everyone. You can't really OD on them, and they are great for pretty much everyone to take.

Hi,

I would definitely recommend Shaklee's Optiflora and this is why: They have a patented triple-layer encapsulation technology that protects the live bacteria so it can make it your large intestine. You are guaranteed to receive 90% of the beneficial bacteria. Other brands dissolve in the stomach and maybe 10% makes it to the intestine. 70% of our immune system is in our intestines and the live bacteria must make it to the large intestine to be most beneficial. Shaklee is the #1 natural nutrition company in the U.S. and has been around for 54yrs. They have a trusted reputation for safety, purity, and efficacy. The little pearl can be crushed or placed in applesauce or pudding, but my daughter just chews them up. Check them out at www.greennutrition.info and register to win $200 in free products at www.freegreenproducts.info. Let me know if you have any questions.

I actually got some Lactobacillus acidophilus at the Vitamin Store for my kids but they actually preferred a shake which I use personally for myself because it tastes better and has alot of other health benefits as well called Shakeology and you can find it at www.myshakeology.com/kristijean or message me and I can give you more information.

I use an all natural vitamin. It is absorbed better than any others. They have a compound called oligofructose! I love them! I did a lot of research on vitamins first.
Good luck!

Metagenix has been the brand most recommended by the Naturpathic MDs with whom I associate with on a regular basis. There are multiple probiotic products made by Metagenix, so you'd have to do some research and consult with your doctor to be sure you're getting the best kind for your child's specific needs.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your probiotics should be in the REFRIGERATED section of the store, if not, the bacteria in the product is dead and useless. You need LIVE bacteria, so they can colonize in your gut properly in order to protect you from the bad bacteria we feed our bodies when we eat processed foods (and other highly suspect, allergy-inducing products, like wheat, corn, sugar, diary, eggs, nuts, etc.).

Wishing you the best, -P.

I just posted on your original question and still recommend speaking with your pediatrician first to make sure the product is FDA approved (most OTC vitamins are not) and that the dosing is appropriate for her age, weight, etc.
