There are a bunch of good links on the American Mensa website http://www.us.mensa.org
You can also find a local group that might have an active kids group.
There are several local groups in the area.
Does anyone know of any Programs for Gifted Pre-schoolers. My 3 yr old has tested "gifted" and I want to get advice from other mothers on programs which they have had experience. If you know of homeschooling programs, I'd be interested in hearing about that as well.
Thank you

I have to agree with with using the Before 5 In a Row program.
We used it and are now using 5 in a Row. I like this series because it also presents conversation on charcter study (honesty, sharing, getting along, ect.)
I was told to try language studies and music with my daughter. These have been proven to enhance learning ability.
Go to your library and see if they have any language studies for children (usualy viedo or DVD format). We used Muzzy Spanish I and my daughter already has a good foundation in Spanish. She's going to Spanish camp this summer and I already know she will blow them away with her vocabulary.
We also enrolled my daughter in a great begining music program but it's not running anymore.
There are several options in the DFW area for begining music appriciation and learning. Try a search for Kindermusik or do a web search for Dallas children's mucic class. It should turn up quite a bit.

Hello S.,
I have heard of the gifted children but how are they tested and how did you figure out your precious child is gifted?
Did you have to do anything for it?
Thanks
-A.
I am also interested in learning about the testing of your 3 yr old. Where and how is it done. Thank you.
One thing I did w/ my oldest was the Before Five in a Row series and then the Five in A Row series by Jane C. Lambert. It takes a book and then has you read it for 5 days- each day focusing in something different- the art, the culture etc.... . I bouth the book and then checked out the reading books from the library.
Must have helped some, my son is finishing 3rd grade, reading and comprehending at a 6th grade level and going into the TAG magnet next year :-)
OK just a bit if bragging!
Feel free to e-mail me w/ any questions!

S.,
I don't have any advice, unfortunately, but I have a question: where was your child tested? What determines giftedness? I would just like to learn more, and I appreciate any time you can take to answer. Thanks!
S.
How do you go about having your child tested at such a young age?

I was hoping that you could give me some advice on your "gifted" 3 yr old child. It sounds like she is very smart and I have been told by our pediatrician that my daughter is very advanced. She is 19 months old and communicates on a 3 yr old level. I was wondering if you had your daughter tested, and if so where? I have search on the internet and was not having any luck. Any help or advice you could give would be appreciative.
Thanks

S.,
I wanted to ask you how was your child tested? I was told that at that age, the child is too young for such testing. Could you let me know?
Thanks!
Hi S.,
Do not have any advice..but a few questions.
Where did you get your child tested? What made you get the test done? How much did you pay? And how much valid is the test and is it accepted in Schools?
TIA
