I just started taking a the pill again after about three years. I am taking the one you can take when BF, its generic but I don't know whats its called. I have not had a period since getting preggy with my daughter(6 months) so I started taking it this past sunday and got my period back on thursday. This might sound silly but I am wondering if I am taking them right and can't remember the rules. I thought you were suppose to start taking them on the sunday after your period but I had not been having one so I am wondering what the best thing to do is. I wanted to ask here first since my doctors appt is a couple months away. Thank you
I am currently taking Errin it's the "mini pill". When my ob prescribed it he gave me more explanation than any other doctor I've gone to, this was after baby #4. He said each pill is "active" there is not a free week. Each pill is important and will last 24 hours. Because of this information I don't think it matters when you start the pill.
I just started taking it, too. My doctor just told me to start taking it, there were no special instructions. He said to start taking it that day and it should be effective fairly quickly. We're just killing time with he pill until we're sure that the vasectomy was successful.
i think they recomended the sunday after your first period so you would not have a period on the weekends. some how it seemed to work out by doing this.
I think you need to just call your doctor's office Monday morning. A nurse can call you back and advise you.

If it were me, I would take the pills throughout this weekend, I THINK the doctor's office will tell you to complete the cycle of pills you started. That's what I would do and I took the pill for over 20 years.
I also took the mini pill while breast feeding. Just continue taking the pill at around the same time everyday. Your pills should have come with a pamphlet instructions from the pharmacy. That may help answer some of your questions but of course your doctors office should have a nurse available too.
Your body is probably adjusting to the hormones, so just keep taking it and it will even out. The mini pill is progesterone only rather than an estrogen/progesterone combo like the traditional pill, but it's still a hormone so it may take your body some getting used to. You may not get a true period for a while either so don't let that scare you. I didn't get mine until my son started on bottles at about 10 months.
Taking the pill the Sunday after your period helps regulate your cycle. You can really start any day after your period, but Sunday is the easiest for most people.
The Sunday part is just something to help you keep up with it from week to week, I think. I know that it doesn't matter which day you start, but it should be after your period is finished. It'll all line up, anyway, once they've been in your system for some time. Your body is probably just adjusting, but you should check with your doctor.
Even though your appointment is two months out, you should still acll with questions. Are you comfortable enough with your doctor and his/her staff to talk to them between appointments?
I started taking the "mini pill" while I was nursing as well. Since I had not yet had a period either, my doctor just said to start them on a Sunday (any Sunday...I don't think it mattered). Be sure you try to take them at the same time every day. My period was a little weird at first too, but it has since worked itself out. I would give it one cycle to let your hormones balance out and see if next month is better. If you're overly concerned, you can certainly contact your pharmacist or the nurse at your OB's office and they would be able to tell you if it's normal or not. I wouldn't stop taking them though because that will really mess with your cycle. Good luck. I hope it works out okay for you.
