Does anyone have any reccomendations for a great condo or rental house on the beach or within half a block or so on South Padre Island? My family and another family are planning a trip for early summer. Both families have preschool aged kids.
Any restaurant suggestions would be welcomed as well.
Can't give condo recommendations because we use to live there, but Ted's is an awesome breakfast place for eggs, bacon, that kind of stuff. Manuel's has delicious Mexican. Their "giant" breakfast tacos are really good. Jessies is good for appetizers, drinks, really good food. Scampi's is a delicious upscale restaurant. Hope you have fun. We really miss it!
You might check with AAA......if you aren't a member, you might become one. The other thing is to get on the internet and check out places, be sure to read the reviews. People tend to tell you how it is. I'm sure others will help you out. But just a thought.

We went there last summer and the place we stayed wasn't that impressive, or i would give you the name, and i don't remember anywhere being that close to the 'good beach'.
I will recommend that you take the little ones across on the ferry boat though, we took my 4 and 2 yr old across several times and saw some dolphins a couple of times, they loved it. Also the Univerisity of Texas has a really neat outside museum area that you should visit with them as well.
We have stayed in Suntide III several times and always been very pleased. It is right on the beach.
