Hello ladies,
I just finished cleaning my kids' closets. There are many gently used or with tags items. Where would you recommend to bring the stuffs to resell or to donate?
Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

I've had good luck with the consignment sales that run on weekends in the fall and spring. You get back more money than you would at a consignment or resale store, and I always donate what's left.

I bring all my stuff like that to the Salvation Army Thrift store (they're closest but I used to bring everything to a Goodwill store - and there's also a St Vincent DePaul, and various church & hospital thrift shops. They hire people who otherwise are tough to employ, they teach them a work ethic, the value of getting up and going to work every day, etc. Then they sell the clothing at very reasonable prices so that people with low incomes can find decent clothing. I find the hassle of consignment shops to be not worth the money. The return is so very small that it's just not worth the effort to stop in to collect your $4.50 every few weeks. It barely covers the gas. Just give it all away and know that people are being blessed all along the supply chain.

unless you are hurting for money...donate. in our family we would donate to the abused womens shelter. they are constantly in need of kids items for women who needed to run immediately....

I 'be been consigning with Just Between Friends for a couple years now. They have several sales throughout the Metroplex in the Fall and Spring/Summer. You can of their website , www.jbfsale.com, and find the sale closest to you and the dates of the sale. NThey also work with various charities so you can easily donate what doesn't sale to a worthy charity.

I must tell you that the preparation for these consignment sales can be daunting, especially the first time around. But it is all worth it because of what I make and because of the many bargains I find because I get to shop the Pre-sale.

If you decide to donate, consider Union Gospel Mission, homeless shelter for women and children.

I choose to donate because you cannot get a fraction of what they are worth at any conssignment store.

I donate at the local women's shelter because I know some moms show up with children with only the clothes they are wearing. I know that the clothing I donate is put to good use and appreciated.

Plus, you get a tax deduction!
